Retracted, need to find new doctor

My poor baby boy was retracted at the blink of an eye - before I knew what was happening - at his first well baby exam this morning. (he's 6 weeks today)

I know you guys have had this kind of thread pop up all the time (unfortunatly) but what I can't seem to locate is some kind of list of intactivist/foreskin-friendly doctors. How do I find someone who won't hurt my baby?

Its so upsetting. : I feel like he's not safe anywhere.

Try the Doctors Opposing Circumcision website: www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org
I think you can contact them and they can help you with names.
Hugs to you and your poor sweet boy! I hope he's OK! It just amazes me that this happens - I never even thought about it with my own intact sons, now 15, 13 and 4! I just assumed doctors knew about not retracting, and I guess I was lucky because none ever tried! I only found out that this happens by coming to MDC!

This is why it is so important to say something before the exam starts. It happened to my son the same way I didnt mention it and wham the dr did it. I was able to move the dr hands away before he got very far. I was reluctant to say anything before he started because it just felt weird and ds paid the price.

You can also post in Finding your tribe and ask for local recommendations.

and for your little guy.

I'm so sorry .

You always have to warn EVERY doctor/nurse/child care workers to not pull the foreskin back at all, not even a little bit. You have to do it with the ped every time you take your son's diaper off; EVERY. SINGLE. TIME since doctors have very short memory.
Please read this thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=129378
hope your little one heals soon,
yulia.

Remember to give feedback to the old doctor(and his boss!) WHY you are not coming back - attach AAP's statement with it. http://www.medem.com/MedLB/article_d...DD&sub_cat=108 )

Everytime this horrid thing happens we mothers should raise a big hulabaloo over it - I have come to realise over the years that medical community does not want to change this or give out proper info so it is up to us.

This issue should be get in media! There is lot of discussion about circ/not to circ but NO WHERE in big media there is any discussion about forceful retractions and how wrong it is.

... and that so often it can falsely lead to 'needing' to be circumcised- perpetuating the myth/cycle.

Even before our decision was final-- I still had so much to learn-- I pretty much recognized that the biggest worry I would have in having an intact son is a doctor or caregiver who did not know about the proper care (ie Non-care) of the foreskin.

Sad.

Unfortunately if it were getting coverage many people here would view it as another excuse to circ. "oh, no dear we must circ him b/c if we don't the Dr might damage his foreskin." (I am well aware that this line of thinking is conterary to logical reasoning.)
