Do you think they remember? or is a weird coincidence?

Today in the car my almost 4 year old asked me "When did they cut my penis off?" Although I have been talking about circumsision in the house, I've only ever used that term and I know he doesn't know what that means.
I wouldn't have thought TOO much of it except that when my oldest son (he's 19 now) was about the same age we were driving past the hospital he was born in (he knew he was born there) and he randomly said "That's where they cut my penis off". I remember at the time being shocked by the statement. Now my middle son (who is 15) never made any statements like that though.
Do you think it's possible that little boys can, for a while, actually remember their circumsision? It seems highly unlikely to me, but it's just weird that both my boys made those comments.

What is everyone's thinking on this?

I think it's totally possible. Some people remember their own birth, so why not that too.

It could be, although maybe someone else talked about it in front of him recently. I hope he at least knows that his penis wasn't actually cut off per se. That's got to be a scarier thought than circumcision!

A number of men in the restoration community have reported things that they associate with being circ'd. The most striking one that comes to mind was a guy who reacted strongly to a piece of music. When he tried to figure out why, the only thing he could come up with was it was playing when he was circ'd.

But of course, in your sons' cases, it would only take the knowledge that they were circ'd at birth, they weree born at the hospital, and then some comments or thinking about those facts to come up with those statements...

Cheers!

I honestly remember being born. I don't think it's a stretch for some males to remember being circumcised.

My second DD has talked about her birth before (she just turned 4) and there are definitely things that she said about it that REALLY surprised me that happened that we never talked about. So, I definitely think it's possible!

My brother remembers right after he was born being passed around by ppl and just wanting to be back with mom. He says he had no words, but he just knew that's where he wanted to be.

I think it's entirely possible that your boys remember their circs. That has to be so jarring. (For the boys and you!)
