My solstice baby is here!!! (Updated with a name)

We finally picked a name!!!! She's Lucy Rhian (ree-ann).

Well after having my first at 38-weeks and my second at 37-weeks I was slowly going crazy waiting for my third. She finally made an appearance at 41weeks at 4:01AM on June 21st. I was going to have my water broken on my due date, but she turned posterior and they wanted to wait until she turned back around. Then they were going to break my water for me on the 20th, but I was running a low grade fever so they couldn't do it then either. However, while I was there I had them check me and I was 5cm dilated and mostly effaced. Contractions, though not painful ones, started almost immediately after being checked.

Somewhere around 10:30pm I decided that it might be a good idea to go into the birth center and get checked again. Both DH and I were a bit paranoid about a fast labor after already being 5cm. I was still only 6cm. This was my first time through active labor with an intact bag of waters and I have to say I'm glad they didn't break them for me to start labor. It was a lot slower than my other two were from 5-10cm, but it was also way less intense. I started feeling pushy before I was fully dilated so the midwife suggested that I try pushing, but when it wasn't working so well she suggested I go spend a ctx or two on the potty. Boy did that melt away the rest of my cervix. By the third ctx I had to push and moved back to the bed. I pushed through a couple contractions until my water exploded all over everything. She was out the next contraction and despite my best attempts to pant and not push I still tore badly enough to need stitches, sigh.

She is just amazing. She was awake from the time she was born at 4:01AM until the time we left the birth center at 7:30AM. And she was so quiet and so alert. Even through the entire newborn exam she was just looking around the room and not fussing at all. She's a big girl at 7lb15oz and 21". We still haven't decided on a name, but she's just a sweet heart and I'm totally in love with her.

Here's a quick pic.

Thanks for reading!!
