|am asking this question for dh....He has been a heavy smoker for many years. Lately, he has developed a cough with tight chest and difficulty inhaling right after he wakes up in the mornings. It usually only lasts about 10 - 15 minutes and then he is fine. Nevertheless, this is clearly a sign that his lungs are in bad shape. Of course, the best thing would be to quit smoking, but that's not going to happen any time soon
So I was wondering if anyone knows any homeopathic/herbal treatments for strengthening and restoring lung capacity?
Personally, I think he needs to see a doctor (allopathic or homeopathic, whatever suits your life).
You could be making a BIG mistake trying to diagnose him yourself and "treating" him with suggestions from a message board.
I have no sympathy for smokers that won't quit (for their families, if nothing else) but feel terrible as a direct result of their smoking. They want their cigarettes AND good health. Sorry, you can't have both. Get a backbone and QUIT.
His smoking is putting YOU at risk for that disease, as well as your child, even if he doesn't smoke directly around you. It is in his clothing and his breath and on his skin and in his sweat. Ask a smoker to touch a tomato plant and look at the leaves the next day. They'll be dying or dead.
Trying to conceive? Smoking reduces sperm counts and affects circulation.
Smoking causes so many terrible conditions and, of course, the worst being cancer.
Lung cancer is a nasty disease. My darling mil died 2 months from the day she was diagnosed (she died Christmas night). She'd quit smoking 4 years earlier (after smoking for 50 years).Nothing will strengthen and restore lung capacity unless he quits smoking.
Please have your husband see a doctor. I don't believe people that say they can't quit. Nicotine IS addictive, but there are treatments to help quit smoking and a doctor can help with this. Ask your husband what is more important: the damned cigarettes or his family?
He has a decision he can
make. Or, he can continue to smoke and the choice will be made for him, and it may not be the one any of you want made.
If he still won't quit, ask him to make sure your legal papers are up-to-date and that he has good life insurance. If he won't protect you now, the least he can do is offer some protection later, if it comes to that.
