Diaper sewing - microfleece question

I just stumbled upon a few yards of malden mills microfleece & am wondering if I can use it doubled up with a couple layers of nylon to make a cover (or outside of an aio). I've used the nylon with regular cheapie joanne fabrics fleece for these purposes -- but that fleece is much thicker.

So what do you think, ladies? I know it would probably be best to get some regular mm fleece, but I found this for cheap & don't really have the $ or time to buy any other right now. I am leaving in 3 days and am trying desperately to get enough diapers done to go 3 days between washings.

Well, microfleece is a wicking material, which means that it takes moisture and deposits it to the opposite side of the material that the moisture is coming from. Does that make sense?

So, considering that you're thinking of putting a layer of PUL on one side, if the PUL sweats or leaks then the moisture will also go through the micro and cause sweating.

So, I don't know. LOL I personally wouldn't do it. BUT if you've tried it with Joann's fleece and it worked all you can do is try.

Thanks Meagan. I have found it to sweat a bit -- but I don't mind. It just reminds me to change him!

I'll just have to bite the bullet & try it! Someday I'll start concentrating a bit more on quality materials, but right now I'm going for whatever I can find quick & cheaply. :LOL

I tried a whole lot of different fabrics for covers and am very happy with my cotton exterior, polyester fleece-lined ones. They don't get wet and hold in moisture well. If the cotton cover is damp, then I change covers and allow to dry.

It does become necessary to change often, though, unlike plastic covers which just pool, but that's one of the reasons I CD anyway, so it doesn't bother me. My mother wonders why Helen is always wet when she babysits, though, and it's just cause she doesn't change often enough!
