my 4 year old has FINALLY made it on the growth chart!!

yeehaaaa! So, after 4 yrs of stressing about his weight. He's FINALLY made it ON TO the growth chart. in the 25%. at 34 lbs. He's in the 80% (I think) for his height at 42 inches.

So, is it normal for this age group to slow down w/ growth... which allows these skinny-mini's some "catch up" time?

How tall and how heavy is YOUR 4 year old?

My turning 4 in August girl is 42' and she's 40 lbs, she's in the 86% for weight and in the 93% for height

He is 4.5 now, but right when he turned 4, he was 39.5 inches and 34 lb. I think he has gained at least a pound or two in the last 6 months and grown an inch or so.

I think our son caught up around 3-4 too. He was always on the chart, just at the 90th percentile for height and the 5-15% for weight. Since age 3, he's stabilized at the 50th percentile for weight and 90-95 for height. So, he's still skinny, but he doesn't look quite so sickly. (He never was sickly, he just looked like a stiff wind would knock him down.)

I gave up worrying about percentiles a few years ago... At her 4 yr old appt, my daughter was in the 2nd %ile in weight and 10th%ile in height. My 3 yr old is in the 50th. It's not that I don't care, it's more that I recognize that my kids are healthy and happy and that national norms aren't worthy of anxiety.

My son made it onto the growth chart for height at around 4 -- going from under the 3% line to about the 10th. For weight he went from the 10th to the 25th (clearly he's the opposite of your little one in terms of body type).

He's now age 8 and about 75th for height and 90th for weight, and I'm wondering if it's time for him to slow down a little!

My ds was born in the 95th percentile and then started to drop. He was in the 3rd for weight when he was 20 months old. He was referred to a specialist who was great. He looked at him and asked some really smart questions. We had one more follow up and were sent on our way. Because he was healthy and strong overall and meeting his developmental milestones, he wasn't worried.

Today he is almost 4, weighs about 31 lbs and about 38 inches which is still pretty small (between 5-10th for both). He is as strong as an ox, however, and super athletic. He just seems to take after another branch of the family (mil's father maybe).

I have no idea how tall DD1, she is 4.5y and all of her 4T clothes are definitely too small. I just popped her on the scale the other day and she weighed 31 lbs, which is a huge weight increase for her. She was 25 last fall.

ETA: Actually I think she is around 41-42in, a fair came into town a month or so ago and I had to put her up against the measurement board for some of the rides, LOL.

My 4.5-year-old is 40 inches and 31 pounds. She's all muscle, very wiry. She's almost never been solidly on the growth charts, but she eats well so I don't worry. She's just extremely active.
