Codi's Mama, that sounds a little like my pregnancy with DS! I didn't get a + home test at all. At about 5.5 months or so I did get one from a dr. But those ladies at Planned Parenthood are a pain in the A**! They actually asked me, "Well, don't you know what happens when you have sex? Didn't you use a condom?" Excuse me! But I'm a married, consenting adult, and even if I weren't, why would that be their business? Anyway, all that to say they acted like idiots with me too. And I wasn't sick with DS at all, didn't really feel kicks I couldn't ignore until 20? weeks, etc. So congratulations! I actually liked finding out like that, and then went on to have my UC. Blessings to you and your family! :-)

Did PP just do a urine test or a blood test? I'm guessing that if you got a quantitative beta blood test you'd know whether it's pos or not. They'll measure the quantity of HCG in your blood, not just if it's present or not like urine tests do.

Good luck! I hope you have a definitive answer soon!

My sister is a doctor in family practice and a couple years ago a patient came in complaining of horrible intermittent back pain. My sis was suspicious, checked her out, and sent her off to have her baby. The woman had no idea she was pregnant. She said she had taken tests that all came back negative.

So......congratulations! to the OP.

Thanks! I didn't know it could be hard to find. I'll ask for pointers once it gets here!

Yeah, and I don't even think she was looking for a *baby* in there! She was pressing at different points on my stomach asking "does this hurt?, How about here?" UUGHH.

They just did a urine test. A blood test would be a good idea, though. Maybe I'll go back in for the Thyroid test and ask them to tack a pregnancy test on there!

Exciting! I had a friend who was the same way... all preg tests came back negative until they did an ultrasound at 4ish months (after me saying something like, how long are you going to wait to tell us you are pregnant?) LOl, she couldn't believe I could see it but a stupid test (both pee AND the blood test didn't show it!).... and 5 months later she had her baby girl.

friend of mine has NEVER tested pos for preg, first doc insisted she was not preg till the baby came, second doc was aware of her past and verified through u/s

it is rare but it does happen.

Well, wishing you the best either way mama!

I had a best friend from high school get preg right before she went into the army, then somehow injured herself in basic training and was sent home, with a tear in her intestine? She was on meds for it, so she says, and the Dr's said they may make her abdomen swell....when I saw her months later I thought "omg she's going to have a baby!" and waited on tenderhooks for her 'announcement" to me which ..never came. She was always very slender and petite so a baby in belly was more than obvious having nowhere to go but out. A month later she said she knew the people at work (we worked together) were asking if she was pregnant but she wasn't and then she explained the whole meds story. ohkay...

Then I was fired from work and two months later her mom called my mom to announce the arrival of my friend's son! : Appearantly shortly after I had been made to leave the job she "found out" she was preg when her mom dragged her to the Drs, at 7 months along.

This reminds me of the No HCG thread a bit ago. I can't wait to find out how this one goes!

hmm - well I hope you get an answer soon - I would be running to get an ultrasound personally but I like to be in control and know what exactly is going on. I could never just wait and see - it would drive me batty :

I know that some women get periods during pregnancy. I know that some women don't get a positive hpt. It's the combination of those together with the lack of the dr being able to feel a pregnant uterus that makes me suspicious that you might not be pregnant.

I hope you are, but as others have said your your own health it would be worth getting a blood hcg test and/or u/s. to confirm.

I have heard of women that even the blood test didn't come out right, so.....

She hasn't had a doctor palpate her belly! Only a lady at planned parenthood who wouldn't have the skills to know anyway as they don't do prenatal care there.

However SHE has palpated her own belly and got a lot of movement and punches from what would seem to be a normal baby protesting to being "felt" like most babies do when they are palpated. lol!

um wow. what about after sex, I can always feel my entire uterus contracting hardcore, unmistakably stiff and perfectly round.

I'm a belly poker myself, never once worried that I would hurt the baby, poking and prodding endlessly, I can feel my uterus growing as early as 4-6 weeks. In fact, when I had baby #5, I didn't get a positive test until 10 weeks, but I KNEW already because of the poking around.

I think those idiots at PP don't know how to talk to adults. They shouldn't be that rude to kids either, AS IF every baby is an accident.

I didn't even know we could subscribe to a thread, but I"ll figure it out for this action!

AND- I had an Aunt who was born with two uterus' She would have full periods during her pregnancies. Her doctor told her to avoid sex, thinking she could conceive another baby mid-pregnancy, but I think somehow hormones would prevent that, wouldn't it?

Not always. I dated a guy who had twin neices. Turns out they were biologically about 2 months apart. The mom got pregnant, didn't know about the second uterus, got pregnant a month or so later, and then when they went in for an ultrasound they found out about everything. She only had one cervix so an internal check wasn't very useful for her (the twins are much older.....about 14-15 now). Anyway, the older baby initiated labour in the second uterus and both babes were born at the same time (well within minutes...you know how it goes ). They never did figure out how she was able to get pregnant in the second one so long after the first one. Normally, it's not a common thing, though possible. I am leary of the dates though....I would imagine the second uterus resulted in a pregnancy far sooner than they tell me. Her records show it though so until they say otherwise thats the version I know.
