-When they talk about measuring effacement, is that different than the cervix getting shorter? So like from the outside it seems like you can feel how long/deep the bulge of the cervix is. Is that what changes in effacement? or is the thickness/thinness of the tissue that makes up the cervix?

-If you're dilated a few cm and can feel into your cervix through the opening, is your mucous plug still there only higher up within your cervix? I was under the impression that the mp lives inbetween the external and internal os. Is this true?

-When your water breaks, what exactly causes it to happen? Is it the force of a contraction? Does the baby somehow puncture the sac? Is it a hormonal thing?
