HELP me with my thrush questions-desperate!

Our doc diagnosed DS with thrush and prescribed Nystatin for both of us and said it should go away within a few days and the presciption is only for 7 days. I asked if I could use lotrimin instead for myself and she looked at me like I was an idiot. From the reading I've done, it's never gone away within a few days or anyone and Nystatin rarely works. I also told her that I felt tingling/shooting pains in my breasts which she also seemed to have no idea what it was (we are switching docs soon, as I seem to know more than she does about common issues) so I know I need more than a nipple cream to treat the yeast. I know she is correct in her diagnosis in DS because the thick milk tongue has NOT gone away and the shooting pains have worsened. I want to try GSE so my question is:

1) Can I use GSE on my nips and orally take capsules and give DS the Nystatin or should I also use GSE solution (I've bookmarked JayGordon.com) in his mouth and skip Nystatin altogether?

2) Is it safe to use GSE on nips and use a nipple cream?

3) Is it safe to take GSE orally along with garlic and acidophilus?

I also wonder if it's possible I have a staph infection in addition to thrush? The shooting pains seem to be more typical of staph from what I understand...is that correct? Is GSE good for Staph as well?

what workrd for me

what worked for me when nothing else did...
my baby and i kept getting thrush over and over and the onlt thing that worked for us was yogurt. (we had to use soy cause we are both allergic to dairy) she wasn't even eating foods yet, but i was getting despirate, so i fed her a few table spoons, a few times a day, and i ate like 3 things of yogurt a day and we did this for a few days past the symptoms disappearing... i even heard you can spead some topically on your breasts, but i did just continue useing the nystatin on myself. it worked well for me, so well that i just make yogurt i pretty regular part of our diet now.
blessings and good thoughts to you

I had the shooting pains too - worst pain ever.... I did the mega dose of Diflucan (one pill total) and it took care of it. I had had thrush (undiagnosed/misdiagnosed/tried natural treatments first) for a month before the Diflucan.

If I could find the person who invented that pill, I'd kiss them full on the mouth.
