Still no contractions...water broke this AM...

Hey all

Anyone have any reassuring stories about their water breaking and then it taking hours and hours until something happened?
I have not had a single thing that I would call a contraction! I have had lots of cramps and some back pain but nothing consistant or anything...

My water broke at 8 this morning and now it's 11PM...I'm starting to get nervous. The midwife is totally not concerned...am I just falling victim to the "medical right"? Someone reassure me...

I've tried sleeping, but it avades me every time...

Thanks everyone

My water never broke so I have no BTDT story, but I'm sure your labor will start soon. Try to rest and relax and just let your body do its thing-- pamper yourself and try not to worry!

dont worry about a thing mama.
dont put ANYTHING in your vagina.
and if you want to kick start some contrax do some serious nipple stimulation and some semen swallowing. that should help.
get your rest, you will need it for your upcoming labor.

My water broke with my now 3 yr old. It took a good day+ before I had any ctx. It was 48 hours until I actually gave birth. Don't worry, it'll happen! Maybe your cervix is opening for you and you don't even know it.

I have no personal experience with it but have heard lots and lots and lots of stories of the water breaking and no labor right away. Hang in there! Must be so hard.

Mine broke at 7.30 on Friday and Ds was born 5.25 on Saturday. I felt fine all day friday and most of saturday, just find something to keep yourself busy, that's the hardest thing!

If you want to speed things up try walking, sex, castor oil, etc. but otherwise just try to keep your mind off it and get some rest if you can

Have faith!! You will have the baby, I promise!!
Re-watch my girlfriend Teresa's HBA3C's video. Her water broke and she didn't have Aiden until 12 days later.
Just like they said, nothing in your vagina, you can take your temp every hour or so, and relax! This baby knows what it is doing, Mama!!

Hang in there, and most importantly- get some sleep! When things kick into gear (and they will!) you'll be glad you had some rest. Tiffany's right- don't stick anything in there, don't consent to any checks.

I agree with everything everyone said, and wanted to add WALK, WALK, WALk!!! (and alternately rest, of course) Just my opinion.

Have someone give you a really good foot massage concentrating on your ankles and the balls of your feet. That really would start my contractions up when they seemed to be stalling. We didn't do nipple stimulation, but I wonder how much faster Bella would have come if we did.

My sister's water broke during the night...then nothing. She had my nephew at 11:30 p.m. the next night. Take it easy because you are going to need all the energy you can manage.

I'm willing to bet those cramps and back pain are doing something! My labour never followed the typical "pattern" they tell you to watch for - it was always inconsistent and irregular. Get some rest, do some natural induction stuff (although no DTD) and get ready!!! Best of luck...

hey everyone!
The contractions I was having (crampy ones) settled into a regular 10 minute apart pattern...but then I went to sleep, and they dropped off. I have had a couple this AM, but nothing timeable.

We are going to eat something and then go for a long walk and head into the birth center just for a doppler check to ease my mind.

I did manage about 3 hours of sleep last night...i know it's not enough, but it's all I could manage.

thanks so much for all your encouragement.

I hope things kick into gear for you very soon!

I hope things get going soon for you! My water broke at 5:30 in the morning and I had no contractions for about fourteen hours. Then by 6am the next morning ds was born. Best wishes for your labor and new babe!!!!!

It can't be very much longer now. It has got to frustrating though, waiting for labor to start. Good luck and keep us posted.
