I got a free pump today for ebf'ing - Page 2

When I had my youngest we were receiving WIC and I had a bad pump, so I called my WIC office about getting one from them. I have epilepsy, so being able to pump is an absolute must. My WIC office contacted the state and got permission to give me a double electric pump even though I'm a SAHM. I was SO happy. It was a life saver when I was hospitalized on two 2 occasions for 3 days a peice fo bad reactions to my Mirena IUD. Without the Ameda Purely Yours from WIC my baby would have ended up getting formula, which is not necessary since I have a massive oversupply.

my WIC in tampa gave me a pump, and when dd got older they gave her a cup that said "milk comes from my mommy, juice comes from my cup"

I also have a wic shirt form wisconsin (thrift store find) that says " I'm fed the natural way"

as for my WIc i was pissed when i went in when dd#2 was a week old (they say you have to come in right away) and i told them i was breastfeeding and they are like "why are you here? we can't add anything to your checks, but we can give you checks for formula." i told them when i breastfed my older daughter i got carrots and tuna fish and again she tells me that i can't get that stuff until my next appt, but treid to push the formula AGAIN! finally a woman standing next to her informed her they could give me that stuff but when i went to the nutritionist she started telling me about formula and i told her i was breatsfeeding and she seemed shocked when i told her i wouldn't be supplementing.

although when i went breastfeedin a two and a half year old the one nutrionist was super nice and told me she nursed a long time too.
