Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for sewing a childrens' sun hat? I would prefer a free on-line pattern but any hints would be great. Thanks so much!

I've gotten several pattern ideas from About.com. They have good crochet patterns too. Good luck!

This thread inspired me I made a hat for my toddler DD (not using the about.com pattern, but starting with a pattern I found on the net to get the idea of the first few rows, and then improvising.

I can only crochet too (I actually just picked up a pair of knitting needles tonight after seeing one too many cute knitting patterns!) But I'm determined to make cute stuff w/ crochet too

I roughly used this pattern:

But after row 10 I went off the pattern and kind of bowed it out a little

row 11: 1 increase every 4 DCs, otherwise one DC in each
row 12: straight DCs all the way around
row 13: 3 DCs in each loop - forgive my lack of lingo
row 14: straight DCs all the way around
