We're home!

Owen Lewis was born Monday the 25th at 7:04pm. Contrary to what I wrote in my "My Water Broke" post, my contractions didn't start up on their own, and after waiting about 12 hrs and doing a few hours of nipple stimulation to try to get them going, I went on pitocin. I was able to stay away from pain meds and epidurals like I wanted to, and made it through my very, very augmented labor on my own. I had a very short pushing stage--5-10 minutes, and he was born from a hands-and-knees position without any tearing. Today, I feel great--not too sore, not too bruised, and I think my recovery will be pretty easy.

He was born at 38w4d, and was 7 lbs even and 20" long. He is extremely sleepy, and so far doesn't cry much, and is a fabulous nurser. I'm really excited. I'll post photos sometime soon.

Congratulations! Skipping the pain drugs really pays off after the birth, doesn't it? I'm so glad you were able to do so well and had such a fabulous birth.

I'm from a different mom's month, but couldn't resist chiming in!
