we went to home depot with thefaucet aerator nozzle thingy.. the little round part that screws onto the end of the faucet in the kitchen.
said "this is what came off our kitchen faucet, i need something that is this size to hook up some RV drinking hose from my faucet to a birthtub 20ft away.
they gave us the stuff but werent really THAT helpful or knowledgable about what they were doing.
thank goodness DH got it home, and tested it out and it works.
my RV hose isnt white. its clear.
In my experience they are never very knowledgable at Home Depot! Which is why I totally boycott the place I was sick and tired of no help and having to look up and down every isle because things aren't where they should be! Sorry for my little home depot rant!

Mentioned the whole draining the tub thing to dh tonight and he gave me a puzzled look and said oh I guess I didn't think of draining it! Me neither ! So next week we will have to go on this mission of figuring out how we are going to drain it!

So far... not going so well with the draining thing. I'm ready for bed, but I have a pool that still has 6 or 8 inches of water in it. We only filled it about 12 inches and it is still that full! :

How are you draining it??

Our sump is a mini one, almost like a fish tank pump. We had the pool totally filled and it took about 12 hours to drain.

So, those of you who've BTDT (especially if you've had a land AND water birth), did you really think the water made a difference in the pain? Labor is OK for me, tolerable, but 20 mins. transition and 20 mins. pushing TOTALLY KILLS ME!!!!!! So, I was thinking about a water birth this time, and was wondering if it really makes a difference. I would LOVE to hear your opinions on this! TIA!

Keri - I found the water relief AMAZING during transition. I actually couldn't even use the tub for pain relief until I was in transition and pushing (slowed contrax too much).

I got that python adapter thing that uses the pressure to drain it.
We finally got tired and went to bed.. it still has about 3 inches in it! :

We bought a really cheap electric hot tub that Honey Pie is converted to wood-heated, since we don't have electricity. Or running water. The water will have to go up the mountain in 55 gallon drums. I don't think he wants to be inside with me. The tub has hard sides and a bench in it... What I'm trying to figure out is something soft to kneel on.

Filling the Tub right now!

We're doing our test run tonight We got this star shaped pool I blew it up a few days ago to see where it would fit and ds and I hung out in it sans water for about an hour. The corners are super comfortable and have lots of support.

We'll see how it feels after it's filled with water. It's been filling for about an hour now. Luckily, living in AZ and it being July, it doesn't even really matter if our hot water works that well. The water comes out warm anyways even at night!

We bought the python pump and drain thing just like from the homebirth forum sticky. We'll see how fast ours drains compared to IamPink....I'm wondering if she didn't have the pressure right? It says on the instructions it drains faster than it fills. I'll update later!

Ok it definitely DOES NOT drain faster than it fills LOL.

So it took 1 hour to fill and about 3 hours to drain. Still not too bad and I imagine since it's your own water pressure that drains it, it would depend on how good your pressure is.

Dh got annoyed with it and started helping it along by scooping out buckets. I'm just glad it fills pretty quickly...I could care less about draining it since I'm sure I'll be in bed snuggling with baby!!

My first birth was not a waterbirth, but this time around, I am planning one. My husband is not into it at all. But it's me who will need it, not him. I wish there were more testimonials for all the different tubs. I don't want to use an inflatable tub. So I am looking into the rentals like Aquadoula, which seems to be the most well known place, but most expensive. What about these tubs?

www.aqua-eez.com
www.everythingbirth.com
www.geocities.com/HotSprings/2840/tubs.htm

Not much cheaper than Aquadoula, but hey, anything helps.
