A great one today!

I took my grandkids to the library. My gs (4) found a book for making funny machines out of recycled stuff like plastic bottles and toilet paper rolls. Right up his alley. One of the machines was a toy TV with pictures on a roll. I was reading a bit of it to him and he was puzzled by that one: "Nana, what is a television?"

A wonderful moment.

I'm kind of broke at the moment...maybe I should rent myself out? Librarian and grandma in one package.

My mother was a professional babysitter, late in life. She would stay with children for a week or two while the parents were off on a business trip or whatever. They mostly seemed to like having a nice Jewish grandma available on a rental basis

Awwww! That is sweet. I'll tell my daughter, who will probably be amused. I think she takes me for granted sometimes. After all, I've been her mother as long as she can remember.

As we speak, my six-year-old is knighting the baby "The Little King" with her wooden sword.

Cute. You can expose your kids to all kinds of ideas, but they're still going to pick up on modern technology!

This thread is fun to read.

These are all such cute anecdotes.

This a very entertaining thread!

My boys have had many similar moments in the younger days...even slinging and breastfeeding stuffed animals as four and five year olds...and gnome scouting only ceased recently! They are 6 and 11, now in public school, and still strongly prefer beeswax crayons, or higher quality oil crayons, pencils and pastels. They passionately refer to regular crayons at school and restaurants as "Crapola". It's difficult to reprimand that one...it's just so true!~

these examples are too cute!

Your son says "Mickey the Mouse" Instead of Mickey Mouse. Or "Star Wars Carribbean" when he 's being rough. I love that he just doesn't really know what these thing are. it's like he is from a foreign country! LOL

We were at the fruit stand the other day and my 3.5 year old ds pointed the the walnuts in shells and said "look mum - boats".

...when my 9-year old's friend brings over her Polly Pockets and ends up playing with our Ostheimer figures with my daughter for 3 HOURS instead. When he mom comes she says "We are not done yet!"

...when my daughter asks me...Can we stay up to watch for fairies again? (Sometimes we wake up at 4am or 5am and watch for them near the fairy house she built in the livingroom).

..when my 11 year old and I have a REAL argument about if she can order a dragon egg from this catalog or not. I was arguing because I was annoyed that she thought she could just order ANY pet without my permission (on principal) and she was arguing quite eloquently that she would certainly take care of it and it would just be a baby! No problem at all!

I love the dragon egg! What a mature young lady.
