I think I saw a buried penis!

I was just reading a thread here the other day about this, but cant find it now. Yesterday I was over a cousin's house who was sitting for a friend's 2 boys (both circd) and the 1 yo, who is 25+ lbs, was getting a diaper changed. My cousing told me his mom says his penis is small, when I looked, the kid was pushing the skin in, there was nothing there (looked like one of those finger covers that look like small condoms pushed in inside--I know, my describing is awful). I think his penis is buried. And he's a big boy plus the circ, I think that is what it is. I so wanted to tell his mom why it was like that, but how do you start a "did you realise your son has a buried penis because you circ'd?" conversation. I dont know her all that well....poor kid.

Yup , sounds like it and it happens because the dr took too much off & the shaft skin along with pelvic skin is trying to compensate so it mostly will end up his complications will end up with pubic hair , tight erections . It's better for someone else to say it because most doctors use excuses as he's chubby he will grow out of it calling it a extra pad around his penis . Most buried penis may look like they "come out of it as grow out of it because the buriedness disappears but the 'result ' will still be as the 'same' because it's the pelvic skin that is now attached to the 'shaft '.

I inadvertently saw somethng similar in a public restroom once. It really is disterbing. I cant imagin thinking that that is something I chose to have done to my child.

Whether the child will "grow out of it" or not remains to be seen, but he certainly wasn't done any favors by the circ.

I saw something like that, too, about 5 years ago at a playgroup. The boy looked like he had no penis at all.

I've only seen 2 circ'd infant penises in my life and, since I've given birth (and have my own intact son, and care about intact/circ, therefore take not more), have seen quite a few intact penises. It seems that the 2 circ'd penises I"ve seen were buried. I've noticed that NONE of the intact penises I've seen have been "buried" like that. All the intact penises hang out like normal. How common are buried penises among circ'd boys?

Buried Penis

Just to jump in here ....my son is intact and has a buried penis. We were told at birth (incorrectly) by a genetist that he has micropenis which means very small penis but when he started ballooning at 3 months and I pressed down on it to release urine I noticed that I felt what seemed to be a penis underneath....sure enough, after 2 urologist appointments it was confirmed that he did NOT have micropenis but buried penis. I was told he would outgrow it once he started walking more often and the fat pad would naturally reduce...otherwise there is surgery available. Circumcision only makes it worse since the scar tissue traps the penis even further. I don't know how common this situation is...more common is circumcised boys but several paediatricians, nurses, and care givers we encountered had never seen it before. I am really hoping it will resolve itself without having to resort to surgery.....

I'd wager to say that they've seen it caused by circ far more often, and the prognosis for those to "grow out of it" isn't nearly as good. The skin they'll need to grow into simply isn't there.

Good luck to your son.

How very interesting. I just stumbled upon this thread by accident. I had a day care baby years ago that had this, but I never had any idea it had a name or could be linked to circumcision! Interesting indeed. The poor baby, he was about 12 mos. There was just this little hole where his penis should have been! And I could see it in there, just barely. His mom never said anything & I certainly never did, so I always just told my then-dh that this poor kid seemed to not have a penis! Well I sure hope he does grow out of it...

So many kids get RE_CIRCUMCISED because of buried penis. They almost re circumcised me when i was a baby because i had "too much skin/buried penis". Funny thing is when i got to puberty i ran out of skin for erections. Boys ABSOULUTLEY grow into their skin , it happened to me so there is no way some circ happy idiot doc is gonna be able to convince me otherwise.
