Ok - here are my stock questions...

If you won the lottery tomorrow - what are the first 3 things you would do/buy?

If you could change one thing about yourself (physically or otherwise) what would it be?

If you could go back and re-live one moment from your past (you can even change the outcome) what would it be?

If you could live anywhere in the world - where would it be?

Describe your perfect vacation...

1) How did you originally start visiting mothering dot commune?

Gosh, I think I joined right around the time DS was born over three years ago, but never became active on it until this pregnancy. I've read the magazine for several years and that's how I got on the site. It's so nice to find a large group of women with similar beliefs, not so mainstream!

2) Where has been your favorite place to live so far?

I like where we are now, but it took some getting used to after living in a really cool neighbourhood in Toronto for six years. This is a pretty small town, but at least we are just outside Ottawa - Canada's capital city. But still need to hit Toronto for any *serious* shopping.

3) What are you looking forward to doing after the baby arrives?

Having a nice big glass of red wine with my steak! And breastfeeding again. Preferably not at the same time!!

4) If you won the lottery tomorrow - what are the first 3 things you would do/buy?

Pay off debt, buy a much better house, then sock it away to live on. Boring, I know. I'm sure we'd travel a bit too and get new cars!

5) If you could change one thing about yourself (physically or otherwise) what would it be?

Lose weight! And not just preggo weight. I could normally stand to lose about 40 to 60 lbs. I think with that change would come many other non-physical changes like more energy, better emotional health, etc.

6) If you could go back and re-live one moment from your past (you can even change the outcome) what would it be?

That's a tough one. It probably wouldn't be a moment so much as a pattern. Like trying harder in university to get better grades and make it to grad school, or something like that. Gosh, I'm boring!

7) If you could live anywhere in the world - where would it be?

Living in Canada, the knee-jerk reaction is to say somewhere warm, but I think I'd really miss the seasons. So I'm going to have to say...Prince Edward Island all summer and somewhere with less-harsh winters from November to April! Perhaps our old neighbourhood in Toronto but in a much bigger/nicer house. For a total fantasy, I think living in Provence would be lovely.

8) Describe your perfect vacation...

Maybe a wine tour around Provence, or a castle tour in Scotland. I'm all about Europe but it would be nice to have money to burn when there! I'd want to stay in luxurious accomodations and eat fabulous food!

What kind of diapers will you be using?

Who do you want to have at your birth?

What is it you liked most about Toronto?

Do you have a name picked out for your babe to be?

Do you plan on any more kids, and how many if so?

where were you born/did you grow up?

What are you doing for Canada Day?

What would you be doing today if you weren't pregnant?

What kind of diapers will you be using?

I have a real mix of fitteds from when DS was a baby, so I hope to reuse most of those. I have lots of Mother-ease OS terry fitteds, and my favourite, Mother-ease Sandis. Would like to get more of those in different sizes. I have a lot of cheap Kushies fitteds, which were pretty flimsy but I'll likely use them as backup. I never used prefolds with DS, so I think I'd like to have a go at those.

Who do you want to have at your birth?

Ideally, just DH and the midwives. But since DS is likely going to be around, there will be someone in the house to be with him (unless they can take him to the park or it's the middle of the night and he stays asleep...). I would like this person to be my mother, as there's a chance that whomever it is will witness a lot of the birth if DS is game.

Where were you born/did you grow up?

I was born in Kingston, Ont. and grew up there for the most part.

What are you doing for Canada Day?

Friends of ours are having a barbecue/party so we're doing that. We'll watch the town fireworks from their backyard. During the earlier part of the day, I'll likely just try and get things done around the house!

What would you be doing today if you weren't pregnant?

Same thing - dropping DS as preschool, running a million errands, trying to get some work done, then picking him up.

What is it you liked most about Toronto?

All the great shopping, and the million things to do!

Do you have a name picked out for your babe to be?

I think so - right now it's Cameron George or Cameron James. But could still be subject to change.

Do you plan on any more kids, and how many if so?

I say we're done with two boys, but DH wants one more. We'll have to wait and see. We won't be doing any drastic birth control/permanent stuff after this baby's born. I'm just not sure I want to be the mother of THREE boys!! :

Who has had the greatest influence on your life?

Probably my parents, especially my father. We've always been close and now it's hard to watch him getting old.

Well, you're an awfully long way from home then, aren't you?? I'm 32 now so I guess we won't know any of the same people, but geez, we practically grew up neighbours! Yay Eastern Ontario!!

I've wanted to ask you before - how on earth did you end up living where you are??

I'm not really in Iceland anymore but my family are icelandic canadian (of the saskatchewan tribe). I met my husband in England, came over here to study Icelandic and signed up for MDC when we lived in Reykjavik for a year. Now we live in Cambridge. 32, eh? My closest connection with Kingston was going to Camp Oconto in Tichborne for 11 years, near Sharbot Lake, is this turning into a PM? Why the move to Ottawa?
