I thought I would give a "gestational" thread a try. I was starting to get curious who was right there along with me, vs. trying to sort out the posters that are due at the end of July. Seems like as it gets down to the wire it matters a little more!

I was 38 weeks Monday. Come Saturday I will have been pregnant the longest in my personal experience, I have never gone to term and I am dreading the thought of doing so! Though I am working at mentally preparing myself for it!

In the mean time I am trying not to make others around me as miserable as I am. We are in the middle of a heat wave though and it is taking it's toll on me. I have had NO SIGNS of labor and I am figuring I will either go all of a sudden without warning in the next 2 weeks, or my body will finally start prepping soon, and I will go more gradually (like I am used to) a couple weeks late (like I am not used to!!)

How are the other 38 weekers doing?

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. Edema is bad, I don't fit in any of my shoes anymore; my legs are hard to move around; my hands get so puffy by the end of the day. Hip pain at night is killing me, I'm lucky if I can sleep for an hour before I wake up and have to get out of bed to move around. Reflux is unbearable at night, I almost threw up 3 times last night. I'm soooo done! I swear I wasn't this miserable with dd. Prodromal labor is just really annoying. I quit timing the contractions after my last big day full of them because it's just depressing.

I go back to the OB tomorrow to check my BP again. DH and I are both half hoping she suggests inducing soon.

Hi,
I turned 38 weeks on Monday too. I have been soooo incredibly tired and I have been so excited to meet this baby that I have been pretty impatient lately. I had a good day yesterday though, just trying to relax as much as possible and then I got some energy after my nap and got a lot of housework done last night. Now I'm all worn out again today. My emotions have been pretty tumultuous. My body is giving me a few slight prep signs such as stronger, increased bh and a little more frequent discharge. The baby's head is engaged and s/he has dropped some. With my first preg. I went 3 days past the edd and with my second I gave birth 2 days before my edd. I am really working on being more patient, being thankful and making the most of each day I have instead of wishing the time away but it's hard when you are very tired and your emotions are strained but realizing that I am still pregnant for a reason and that God's timing is best does help me to be more patient.. I wish I felt everyday like I felt yesterday though. I also feel so bad that I am too tired to take my 2 boys out in the heat. Poor guys. Hopefully I can get them out tomorrow since we are supposed to have nicer weather.
I know what you mean about trying not to make others as miserable as you are! That's interesting that you are going longer this time than you have for your other pregnancies. These things can be so unpredictable. Maybe the full moon will help some of us along.

I'm 38 weeks as of last Friday.

I've had a lot of what my MW calls "prelabor". After 15 hours of contractions yesterday, I am exhausted. I just want this little one to make up her mind already. I've been watching baby shows and I get so jealous watching these new mamas.

Of course I keep talking to my belly and telling her today is not a good day. DH and I have so much shopping to do.

I like this thread idea.

Hi,

I like the idea of this thread too. I am 38 weeks today...I too, have never been pregnant this long, my first was born the day I turned 36 weeks. So I have been carefully watching for any signs...I think I tend to have a lot of contractions when pregnant so I have been having that and definitely increased discharge, etc. I think it's hard when your other pregnancies were earlier -- I have finally come to accept that this babe may not come till his due date or later! They also had me on modified bedrest for a while for PTL symptoms so that may have been why I was expecting another early bird.

Today was my first day not working and I went to a matinee of Knocked Up I thought it was a pretty cute movie overall.

Take care everyone,
Maura

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow Feeling pretty good except for a bit of back pain sometimes. I do get REALLY tired running errands, dragging the kids to swim lessons, etc. I was shaking this morning and I felt faint, maybe I need more iron or something...Last week i was dilated to 2, tomorrow I have another MW appt so we'll see. I finally have my birth tub and I just started washing baby laundry last night, I can't believe this babe will be here in just a few more weeks! I feel soooo ready and also soooo unprepared

I turned 38 weeks on Sunday and feel pretty darn good. This is surprising considering i just had urine analysis and I have Strep B and Ecoli in my urine!!!!! I am concerned and have to make a decision over IV antibiotics...but I feel great. I'm going to do a retest at the end of the week (not sure if I got a clean catch) after intensive Vit C, probiotics, tea tree oil and garlic supplements. I went full term with DS1 so I expect to with this one too. No major signs of impending labor just yet. I didn't have signs with DS1 either - I just lost my plug and went into labor that evening.

Ohhh, this thread is mine too! I was 38 weeks last Saturday. I'm feeling really good yet. I just had my midwife appointment today, and I'm measuring 35 weeks. That's actually good, it's only 3 weeks behind, and for awhile I was 5 behind. I know when we conceived for sure, so there's no question on the dates. I'm actually not worried about it, I think I'm just carrying differently than I did with my first. My midwife felt the baby and said she thinks she's about 7 lbs right now, which puts her right where my 1st was. (She was born at 39 1/2 weeks, weighing 7 1/2 lbs.)
I am ready for my baby to finally get here. I have everything done, and now I'm just sitting around waiting. If 2nd babies come earlier, she should come now!! I have had real contractions the past two nights, but I don't want to get my hopes up and then go 2 weeks over, kwim? I'm way more prepared than last time, I feel like there's nothing left to do. Come on baby!

This is me to a T. Everything is ready, all our Big Events that he could ruin are over (including dd's preschool graduation ceremony last night), I'm getting bored sitting around the house. Come on baby!

Hi there,
I've only posted one other time in this ddc throughout my pregnancy, so i thought it was time to share. I turned 38 weeks yesterday. This is my second pregnancy. I also have horrible pubic pain and i can barely sleep. As a matter of fact, it's 1:30 in the morning here in italy. With my first i had lots of discharge throughout pregnancy. This time around, i have vaginal dryness - very strange. we've had a terrible heat wave these past two weeks and we don't have air conditioning. People use a/c very little in this country...so, i've had a really rough time with lots of : .
I just hope i don't go too much past my due date July 10th. I went three days past with my dd.
Sending out positive birth vibes to you all

Peggy

My midwife was at another birth last night, I thought that was a sure fire way to gointo labor!! But it wasn't. How many of us are banking on the full moon Friday? And how many of us will end up posting in disapointment Saturday AM?!?
I'm 38w5d impatiently waiting. It's like we are all just here sitting around and watching me waiting for something to happen. I feel badly because I've been too tired or in too much discomfort to really do anything or go anywhere with the other kids. It's been a boring summer for them so far.

I've tried just about everything to try and get her to come, including the whole oral injestion of prostaglandins thing, which wasn't pleasant, but just shows the level of my desperation!

I'm hoping the full moon does what sex, thunderstorms, walking, nipple stimulation, pineapple, and eggplant have not been able to do!

I had my midwife app. yesterday. Apparently having her away at another birth the night before did not do the trick for me! But everything was perfect, blood pressure, urine, postioning, you name it. She said the baby is not engaged into my pelvis yet, but he/she is "tipped" into it, ready to go. I woke up this AM at 4:30 with wimpy but regular contractions. They won't go anywhere I am sure, but they are the first regular ones I have had with this pregnancy, so that is a start. My father wants me to go into labor today so he can get out of a conferance he doesn't want to go to I wish I could accomidate him!

Macrina, keeping my fingers crossed that this is it for you!:
