Feeding room revisited

Yesterday I was in John Lewis (big UK department store) and I went to change DD. I noticed that the logo for their "parents' room" is a baby bottle (both in the store directory and on the door). What do you think? Does this devalue BF'ing?

(The room is set up pretty well, with good changing tables, bottle/food warmers, and an alcove with a chair so you can BF privately if you want--there's a curtain you can pull across if you want to. Though the chair could be comfier. I might write to them--after all, JL sell very nice armchairs. And baby gliders. No outlets for pumps though, even the bottle warmers are done so you can't get to the power points. I guess they're afraid of babies getting near 240V electricity.)

Of course the logo is a bottle.

What would a breastfeeding mother need a seperate room with a microwave and a sink for? A bottle feeder needs to warm the bottle and rinse it afterwards.

We, meanwhile, get to sit in the furniture section and watch the world pass by as we feed our babies.

How about enlightening them to the breastfeeding logo? I'm more than certain they aren't aware of it.

Besides, at the least the room could be titled "parents' room."

That is, in fact, what it's called.

Wannabe> Some BF'ing mothers do prefer somewhere quiet (especially if the store is busy--for that matter I COULD bottle feed my daughter in the furniture section just as easily [I never bother warming the bottle, she likes it fine at room temp] but who the heck wants to do that in the middle of the twice-yearly sales when half of north London is poking at the sofas?) And the room is clearly intended for them as well when you actually see it.

Wow, definitely say something. The parents room JL at Bluewater is set up totally to support bf mums. I can't remember off the top of my head what the logo is on the door, but I'm pretty sure it's a babe in arms rather than a bottle, or maybe just a picture of a baby. There are really comfy sofas and nursing chairs in there, a water cooler and cups, private area and a family room. In fact, it's the only time I make a point of nursing dd in a parents room!

Just a PSA: I personally love sitting in the furniture section to nurse. (Or I did, back when DD would actually nurse when we were out and about.) However I would like to suggest to all mamas who utilize the furniture dept in stores - please choose a leather sofa or armchair. Spitup can be easily cleaned from these. Velour upholstery, not so much. Just saying.
