I will say, though, that I'm trying to find 3 other women to room with to get this as cheap as can be though... so if I find other roomies who are not good with snoring I may not be able to room with you. I hope you aren't offended.... Otherwise we're good.

Love and peace and happy birth conference vibes!

I normally have a 2 year old and almost 4 year old in bed with us, so babes don't bother me at all!

I'm open to whatever. For 4 to a room, you're looking at two queen beds, right?

DH used to work in hotel, he says it's either gonna be 2 Queens or a King. Can't imagine they'd set aside rooms with a King for a conference, though. He is suggesting a call to the hotel. I may do that Sunday.

Either way, I think DD and I will bed down on the floor- no rolling off, no getting squished by someone who's maybe not tuned into her presence as I am.

I'm getting excited!

Unfortunately they do have rooms with king-size beds set aside for the conference, and it is the only thing left!!! So, I've reserved one, but I know of someone who isn't going, and I think she's going to pass on her reservation of a room with 2 queen sized beds to me.

Pamamidwife & purpletirza - wanna share with us?? (Two very nice aami students...)

I'm going!!

It wasn't going to be feasable for me to go, but i put the wish out there, told my sweetie, and sure 'nuf, a whole bunch of my family members pitched in to send me (as a birthday gift)!
I'm so excited, and could use a roomate, if anyone is still looking.

I am so excited for the conference! Carla Hartley says it will be the last one she organizes, so do everything and anything to get yourselves there. Plus I don't know how much longer Michel Odent and John Stevenson will be around...they are living treasures.

just as a curiosity are those with kiddos bringing the kiddos? i live close by to Redondo and am going, but, of couse, my hubby has his bff's 30th birthday party on saturday and my momma is moving to maine a couple weeks before so i'm trying to find childcare that day but who knows what'll happen.

i know at the LLL conference there was many older kids there that were willing to watch the youngin's for a small fee but this'll be my first birthy conference so i'm not sure if it ends up like that or not...hmmmmmm, i know this is the first Trust Birth Conference also. anybody have any insight?

You might want to email Carla and see...I know there aren't any 'official' child care accomodations, but there might be something planned to help.

I'm game! Pamamidwife?

We want to order my airline ticket asap, as prices (for us anyway) seem to be going up. But I want to make sure I have a solid rooming situation first. Don't have to have everyone settled, just one absolutely gauranteed roommate. Well, in a larger room, I guess I need two gauranteed to get similar prices. How do you propose we work out payment stuff? Dh was suggesting an escrow service to be on the safe side. How has anyone else handled this kind of thing in the past?

Eliza, Reha might be able to help you out there... Reha?

Marisa,

DH is saying he'll buy my plane ticket as soon as we have confirmation on roommates. I don't need to handle money matters in that dept. (so the diff in cost between 3 and 4 doesn't matter yet), he just wants assurance that my roomies will not fall through. Are you guys already registered for the conference? Do you already have plane tickets? I think that kind of info should be sufficient. Thanks in advance!

Actually, I just checked farecast.com, and we'll probably be waiting. So less rush, BUT they say that the drop in prices they're predicting (drops in general) can be for as short a period as 48 hours. And it's predicted within the next 7 days. OK, maybe a little rush But if you haven't bought plane tickets, this is a great site to watch!

Greetings All.

Well it looks like I might be able to attend the Trust Birth Conference. The client I have that is due around that time had her due date changed up a week, (of course she already knew that since she knew when she ovulated) This change should allow me to just make it to the conference.

Now I am scrambling to pull it together with finances and logistics. Does anyone know anyone who would like or need a roomate at the conference. I will be arriving Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday night...

Thanks all for any help,
Tia Rich

I just got an update that Ricki Lake is planning on attending the dinner on Friday night, so if you're even somewhat local to the area and can make the dinner, I think that would rock! The dinner is open to anyone, even if you don't go to the rest of the conference, and it's very cheap! Michel Odent will be the keynote speaker. I would definately pass this info along to everyone in your local So. Cal. birthing groups, because this is a once in a lifetime event! On top of that, if you were so inclined (and hurry!), you can actually pitch in a little cash to sponsor one of the speakers and have your name added to a card that they will be given. There's only 8 sponsors per speaker, so that is a pretty cool honor! If you want to shell out the $$ and be the only sponsor for someone you get to personally give them the card, and have pictures taken with them and the whole shebang! There's a whole slew of childbirth VIPs who will be there! You can check out the list for that at aamishop.com under the dinner sponsorships tab. WAY COOL!!!

Looks like I'm not going after all. We had a surprise in our finances and my three year old has been clingy and sad since I mentioned the trip, so we've decided she's not old enough for me to leave for 4 whole days.

Everybody have fun!

Lindsey
