did I mention my kid is awesome?

So, my induction is scheduled for 8am, right? I'd been having contractions on and off all day yesterday, but I woke up this morning at 4am unable to ignore them and go back to sleep. My water broke at 5am.
Since no one ever expected me to go into labor on my own, I was never schooled in the whole "timing contractions" thing. So, I called the hospital to ask what I should do next. The nurse on deck seemed to think I should come in RIGHT NOW. I could probably spit on the front step of the hospital from my yard, so I told her I wasn't exactly panicking yet, I thought I'd take a shower first. So, now it's 6am. I've taken a shower, eaten a little breakfast. I waited as long as I could to wake up dh because he was up half the night having an allergy attack. Now he's showering up. Contractions are steady. And as far as that nurse knows, I'm still in the shower.
...and there goes another one...
We should be on our way in a few minutes. Looks at though baby said "thumbs down" to induction.

Liam Irving was born on June 28 at 12:09pm. Weight: 7 lbs 15 oz, 21 inches long. I can't imagine how big he would have been if he had gone full term!!! It was a pretty short, but rough labor. I did it without drugs, but we did end up using forceps and episiotomy. The cord wrapped around his neck and his little nose got hung up on my pubic bone. His heartrate started dropping and things we pretty frantic for a few minutes.
Dh was about as involved in the labor as the assisting nurse. He was wonderful. I can't say that enough. He was incredible.
He is a beautiful baby! Looks like his daddy, and has lots of hair. He nurses so easily. Seems to be calmed by wearing hats- I don't get it, but you put a hat on him and he's happy.
My cats are all going to need therapy.
Thank you for all of your kind and positive thoughts. Dh has taken about 2000 pictures. I'll find one quick and post again.
