Hi!
This was me:
in February of '06.
The 'rest of the story', though- I could not transfer to the m/w group, I had to go to a practice of OBs. They were not my favorite. Baby was double footling breech, I arrived at the hospital 7cm dilated. Nurses ran. I laughed.
He was born via CS, born healthy and gorgeous. At my 6 week followup with the ob, I was told that I qualified for their VBAC program for my next birth- but there's NO WAY I'll deliver in a hospital again, unless it is absolutely necessary.
I'm not pregnant, and our previous infertility makes me wonder why I'm asking these questions now... but I guess I like to be prepared. So.
My previous birth center was Labor of Love, in Lutz. I recently saw that they will only do HBAC- is that the case with ANY birth center? I don't think it matters, though- I don't know of any other birth centers in the nearby area. I'd rather birth at home than drive to Clearwater or Lakeland or wherever.
We risked out because of the genetic issues- I know that we were already at our limit of 3 points (or however the refer/consult thing is tallied) because of the IVF pregnancy. What are the things that count towards your overall risk scorecard? I know the Csection and IVF, but I'm specifically wondering if a previous chromosomal anomaly counts? We would decline testing this time around.
What I really want to know, I suppose, is this: next time around, do I have to deliver at home because I can't go to a birth center?
(the husband likes the birth center better, but I'm leaning towards home. When he gets to deliver the babies, he can birth them wherever he likes.)
And, is there any OB in the state that will sign off on a HB if I have a history of IVF, surgery, and chromosomally affected babies?
Just checking the waters.
Thanks!
stephanie
