Making a wrap-mat (for sandwiches)

Okay, I want to get a few of these wrap-mat type things, for packing up sandwiches.

However, I DON'T want to spend $6.95 on one-- this looks easy enough to make with the correct fabric and velcro. Any ideas of what type of fabric I should use?

Scroll down. A mama writes how she made her own using polyurethane coating fabric leftover from diaper fabric. There is prices and links to where to get it.

I've been telling my friend to use PUL for those for a year. She keeps insisting that she has to use food-grade vinyl, but I really think PUL is much better, since it can be washed and dried on hot
