Would you consider me as a VBAC client

Hi all,
I am pregnant with my 2nd and considering a VBAC...I was hoping that you all could provide me with some insight about whether you would consider taking me on as a client.

First baby was induced at 42w2days (I was using a CNM from whose care I would be transfered if i went any longer...CA law)

I went from 0-6 in about 1.5 hours and then "stalled"

remained at 6 for 6 hours...The baby went into distress (heart rate dropping) and I developed a high fever.

I ended up with an emergency c-section...baby and mama recovered well

I know that I am genetically predisposed to carry babies "overdue" and would love to hear any insights...also the next birth will be a hospital based birth as my dh is not at all comfortable with a home birth (especially after my last birth) and birthing centers can not legally accept a VBAC...

also I am willing to be creative with my conception date with a Dr if necessary

thanks in advance

I think you have an excellent chance of getting a VBAC! Many labors "stall" when mom is induced. As for baby's heartrate dropping, induction usually causes a lot of that. The more you can stay away from unnecessary interventions the better your chances are.

I'm wondering what caused your high fever, though. Lots of vaginal exams with broken water? Epidural?

Not only can you "play" with the "due date", you can make the doctor a bit more happy in attending your birth. Biophysicals, non-stress test, and kick counts do wonders for calming an anxious doctor when your due date comes and goes.

thanks for your insights...

And certainly with my last baby I was completely healthy in every way even though i was "overdue"

I have all my water, my placenta was "perfect" according to my midwife, and the baby was completely healthy...

I agree that my labor complications were a result of interventions....yes my waters had broken...and no I had no epi until the decision was made for a section (nor did I have any other pain meds)

Yeah, I really do think you won't have the same problem again. I would just focus on making sure this baby is in a good position, working through any fears you might have, get an intervention free dr, surround yourself with support and encouragement, then relax.

I'm guessing the high fever developed AFTER the cesarean birth? If it happened before, I would really question what was going on. After, well, that unfortunely happens all too often. Epidurals and infection I believe being the most common cause.

I don't see why not (but I'm not a midwife).

I wonder why you developed a fever? An epi can cause a fever.

No the fever developed before the section and before the epi and i was not febrile when the induction began

thanks for the insights...I am feeling really encouraged

I would take you on for a VBAC, but I'm not a doctor (which may prove harder).

Sure, I would have no problem taking you. the docs around here wouldn't though for liability reasons:
