bigknitwit's popsicles?

Hi, this is for bigknitwit or anyone else who has made her popsicle recipes. The pink recipe says that the frozen blueberries she buys will puree without leaving bits. Unfortunately, Cascadian brand of organic blueberries left bits, to which my 2 yo son objected ("there's little black thingies in it!"). I'm still hoping that once they're frozen he will eat them. I'm wondering what brand of frozen blueberries purees clean. IIRC Trader Joe's has these little wild frozen blueberries that to have less thick skins than the Cascadian Farm. Maybe those will work. (By the way, bigknitwit, those are really cool recipes... I'm so excited to hide CLO and BO in something my son will eat!)

For me, blueberries always left bits until I got a really good blender. Maybe somebody has a technique or brand I haven't tried, though.

Good luck!

I was using a Vitamix... maybe if I did it longer on a higher speed?

I seem to remember having trouble with some blueberries more than others last year (just found out this year a few of us are sensitive to blueberries so I don't use them as much as I did last year). One trick I did do (which I seem to remember working), was to very very lightly steam the blueberries - enough to soften the skins, but not too much that the frozen berry gets cooked. Often the insides of my berries would still be cool. I have recently replaced the blueberries with Trader Joe's frozen cherries, which puree beautifully.

We also have trouble with bananas here which makes popsicles more challenging, but I have found avocado, mango, orange juice to be a good mix and creamy enough still.

This thread has me curious. I'd love to make some great popsicles for my kids this summer. Can someone link me to the thread with the recipes? Thanks!
