How does your food sensitive child react?

Yesterday we gave DS just a little smidgeon of cheese to see how he did with it. DS defenitely has a dairy intolerance but we suspect something else as well. Anyways, ds had the cheese at dinner time (BAD time to trial a food BTW!) so at about 5:30, he was fine until 11:30 and then he woke up SCREAMING. This was the screeching pain cry. He screamed in my arms for the next couple of hours. I would lay him on his belly and he would scream and fart. He would roll onto his back and pull his legs into his chest. Finally around 2:15 am he fell asleep but he would wake up every 5 or 10 minutes and let out a little cry and move around. He was never really still through the whole night. He woke up this morning at 5:50 still pretty grumpy.

How does your child react when they have a food they shouldn't have?

When my ds had cow dairy he would be up all night fussy and get a rash across his face. It took from about dinner time to bedtime for a reaction.

I remember my stepfather told me, "I fed Jack ice cream and he is not allergic to it." Oh really! Because a few hours later when he was at home with me I could tell he ate some when I was up at 3am and he had a rash!!!!:

When my dd has soy, she starts vomiting one hour after eating it, and will then vomit for the next 8+ hours. It is horrible

With dairy, it's fussiness, pain, crying, up all night, increase in eczema, mucousy, bloody stools.

With wheat/gluten-she has mucousy stools, constipation, absorption issues, pain, crying and fussiness.

She is still breaking out with a painful rash around her mouth, but we haven't figured out what is causing it yet....

Your son sounds very like how my dd was when she was younger and still going through the elimination of foods....I hope you have a better night tonight!

All DD's food intolerances cause eczema.
Dairy causes blood in her stools (after several exposures in a short period of time).
Wheat, coconut, and nuts cause extreme restlessness at night and green poops in the middle of the night. She also had a night terror after an exposure to nuts.
Eggs caused her to spit up after she started eating them (at around 13 months old, so really too old to be spitting up). We just did an egg trial and she didn't show any reaction for a week and then started taking 1.5-2 hours to go to sleep every night.
Food chemicals (salicylates and amines) cause hyperactivity, aggression, frequent urination, and sleep problems.
I think she's intolerant to chickpeas, too--caused instant red cheeks and frothy poop.

All of DD's reactions except to wheat and nuts are cumulative, it takes several exposures before I see an obvious reactionn.

This is exactly what ds does when he eats dairy or has a glass of milk. I was doubting that this was the problem, but now reading how other children who are allergic are reacting, I am almost convinced dairy is the cause of his erratic behavior. I am tempted to get him allergy tested to take away any other lingering doubt .

The thing with the allergy test is that if he does have an IEG (??) reaction to it, then he won't test positive. Best thing to do is cut it out completely for at LEAST 3 weeks and see if you notice a change for the better. If it gets worse for a few days, that's normal.

dairy: this can happen anytime within two days of having dairy.
crying, frequent night wakings, gas, loose stools, blistering diapar rash with the poopy diapers. Chest rattle, runny nose. Lots and lots of whining.
