I have heard using cloth pads helps lessens the bledding during one's cycle. Is this true and why? Thanks for any insight.

Cloth menstrual pad question?

I don't know from personal experience if using cloth lightens your period, as I switched to cloth the same time I stopped taking birth control pills after 3 years. I have heard many women say it does reduce blood flow though, and the theory is that disposables have 'wicking/absorbing' gels etc in them which actually draw blood out of you. I don't have any sources for that, but it is the 'word on the street' for what its worth.
Even if it DOESN't actually reduce blood flow though, I love using cloth for all sorts of other reasons (comfort, cost, environmental impact)

I can add MY personal experience that it does!
When I asked this question is was because of all the bleaches and stuff that was put in there caused you body to bleed longer.
Since I've switched to cloth pads, I have had shorter and lighter AF and NO CRAMPS!!!
I wanted to add that before I have cramps that I would have to call in sick to work for and such heavy bleeding that I would have to change disp. pads about every two hours!~

It was unbelievable how my menses changed after I started using cloth pads. I went from using overnight disposable pads all the time for the first three days of my menses to being able to wear liners for the entire period. When I was buying my cloth diaper stash, I was so worried that I didn't have enough. My flow is so light now that I don't even get through the ones I have in a cycle. My ridiculously heavy flow became so light I wasn't sure if it was my period or not! Now, having ds really alleviated a lot of the terrible cramping I used to get but with the cloth pads, I really have no cramping at all. Certainly not enough to take anything for. I only have praise for cloth pads.

I just switched a few months ago and I love them. My periods were lasting 14-18 days which was horrible! My last period was only 7 days!
: Now, I don't know if it was because of the cloth pads or not. I am also having some health problems and started taking a bunch of supplements so one of those could have done the trick too, but I still love my cloth! I have Sckoon and Lunapads and my Luna's are my favorite.

I haved noticed my periods reduced dramatically when I switched to cloth pads. I went from bleeding for 7-8 days, down to only 5 days. Plus, my severe cramps dissapeared! Before, I'd be crying and moaning in bed because I was in so much pain, and even Midol didn't relieve it.
I have several brands of cloth pads, but love HagRag and Ama'z Padz, becuase of the cool prints.

i never heard this before. interesting. i used cloth pads for about a year and a half before becoming preggo. i know that my skin felt so much better with the cloths. with the paper pads, i used to get raw skin in between my legs and that problem was totally eliminated with the cloths.
