Travel for VBAC???

Hello...I had a C-Section almost 18 months ago. I am now living in AZ and in the area I am there is NO VBACing. I cannot subject myself to a surgical extraction of my future baby just because "that is the way we do it here". Could anyone reccomend a VBAC friendly birthing center or midwife that I could travel to? I want to make contacts and discuss possible options before I conceive so then I am not panicking when I am pregnant. I want to be as informed as possible. I would even be willing if there was a midwife who did not do many births and had the time, to fly them here to help my husband and I homebirth. Anyone have any ideas???? I know I sound crazy...I just know my body and I know I can birth a baby naturally...I have done it 4 times prior to my section, and I just cannot end my birthing experiences with a section because it is the "rule".

you do not sound crazy to me at all. I am so happy to hear of a women willing to go to the ends of the earth is necesary to claim her birth, sad as it is that this is what it would take. I don't have any names, but just wanted to chime in, I hear so many women settling and saying "I just don't have any options"...I once thought this too, by the sky is the limit....and we get to set how high OUR sky is! When you look at it this way, anything is possible! I know that you will find the right mw, and I look forward to hearing more! I found a mw to work with me before I conceived as well!

She travels: http://www.midwifewithoutborders.com/

One of the midwives here (I think it may have been Pam?) have suggested her before to other mamas in your area.

I am in northern Arizona....I actually am in a town called Cottonwood and NONE of the HB midwives do VBACs. If someone knows any different please PM me.

Also....does anyone have any reccomendations of birthing centers who allow people to travel in for births?

How about rounding out you birth experiences with a birth at The Farm? It's a lovely place, you can google it.

Yeah I know Gail travels, have you thought of going to CA? You can VBAC at home (or someone's home) there. I know of some midwives in Phoenix but doesn't sound like you're close to there. I'm in Yuma and we don't have ANY hb mw's; one of the awesome hb mws from this very subforum is coming out here to attend me!

try contacting state midwifery organizations for some help also. They can often direct you to midwives who will help you. Consider border states to your state also.
best to you!
