Mucous Plug Question...

Well this is my THIRD pregnancy, so you would think I should know the answer to my OWN question, but somehow I don't!

Is the mucous plug always blood tinged in color, or can it be more of just a snotty color? SOrry if this is TMI! I think I may be gradually losing my mucous plug, but am not sure since it's not really blood tinged in color this time. Maybe I'm just being overly hopeful!

I did not have any blood and did have some pretty stringy "snotty" colored stuff for a few days

last time I think I remember a tiny bit of bloody streaks

I think there are many variations of normal, some people never see their plug!

Mine came out in big chunks last time & it wasn't blood tinged at all. Haven't seen it this time yet, but I haven't been checking either.

i was loosing plug for weeks with Addy and had no blood in it ever.
i just started to loose a lil bit with every BM, and yep. looks like snot. no blood.
i figure when i see the bloody show, THATS when i know its all coming out.

So much variation!

I lost it mid-labor with DD2 and in very very early labor with DD3. (I never saw it with DD1 - induced, only dilated to 3 cm and then c/s.)

In both cases it was a ton, ton, ton of never ending super strong/tacky blood-tinged mucus. There was no mistaking it for something else.

This make me giggle as dh keeps saying refering to the mucous plug as the first sign of labor. Gently I have tried to tell him that labor could start without seeing the mucous plug. I think this is something that he retained from hospital prenatals with his ex. Yesterday and today there was a little bit of mucous and when I told him just now I think his bp shot up! But I am maintaining babe can come any time it feels ready!

The plug by itself has no blood in it, BUT if you are dialating and effacing (enough) while looseing some of your plug, then there can be blood in it.
