Power Pumping

I saw a post a while back about "power pumping" to increase supply. This is where you pump for ten minutes, break for ten, pump for ten, etc. for an hour a day for a set number of days.

I thought I would share my results because this is the most effective supply increaser I've used.

I did the hour power pumping for 3 days in a row. 3 days later my supply jumped from 48 oz a day to 60 oz a day, and today was the third day at 60 oz. Nothing else changed as far as how i pump or nutrition, etc.

anyway, hope this helps someone.

Wow...that's great. How many days do you do it bwfore going back to regular pumping?

Thank you! I am going to do it!!

I did this for a while and got a 3 ounce increase. Nothing like a 12 ounce increase for me. 3 oz. was good for a feeding though, so it was worth it.

oooh! I am going to try this to see if I can up my supply! I am only producing 24oz a day and that's on Dom so I will do this now!!!! Thank you for the tip!!!!

Any idea how long the increase will probably last?

mtnhighmama,
From the info you got, do you have any idea how long the increase will probably last? In other words, was there any recommendation as to how often to repeat the "power pump" routine?

Ok, so I did the power pumping for 3 days and then returned to my regular pumping schedule. I pump roughly every 2-3 hours during the day, or when I start to feel full or experience a let down sensation. I do my last pump of the night at 1 am, then wait for my body to wake me sometime between 5 and 7 for my first morning pump. I try to no be too regimented about when I pump because I want to mimic the natural feeding cycle.

As for how long the supply increase will last, well, I assume it will last as long as I continue to pump every few hours. Once I drop the frequency of my pumps, then my supply will drop. But as long as I keep up the every 3 hours, it should be fine. But I'll let you know if there's a drop.

I imagine that you shouldn't necessarily need to repeat the power pumping unless you have a drop again or want to increase your supply again.
