i second the swelling.
which is a tad uncomfortable for me but (tmi) DH is more than happy with it.
when he gets it.

oh, and wait til labor, when you get what i lovingly refer to as horse crotch.
you wont be doubting how a baby is coming out. lol.

I think it depends on the baby and the baby's position. Ds kicked like crazy all night and day and my ribs were super sore. This one doesn't kick at all. They just poke me and stretch a lot (so I'll have a bony knee sticking out of me for like a minute or more...it's really weird and uncomfortable!). It doesn't really matter if they are kicking, just that they are moving in some way.

Bee I'm swollen as well.... no sex birthday or otherwise going on here. That's not from lack of trying either, dh just isn't interested.
For me, yes. And that's anterior vs. posterior as well. This guy was posterior for so long that when he finally rolled over properly lined up, I can only feel swishes and pushes instead of kicks and punches and hands all over the place. So for ME, I feel them less once they're positioned well.

'Tis a dubious club to be a part of, isn't it? I swear I won't be any kind of interested anytime soon again (Tom was happy about it the other night, but yikes I was a bit uncomfy).

In a very weird way, I am also looking forward to this birth. With my other two, they (the nurses) put me flat on my back!: I have a midwife for this one, and am SO CURIOUS as to how I would deliver, if I were given the chance (and might even do a water birth!) So, even though sometimes I get a horrible scared feeling, b/c I remember the pain and intensity (thankfully those feelings are coming less and less frequently), I also am excited!

I hear you guys about the swollen vulva thing! and yes, dh LOVES it too! Actually dtd has become uncomfortable for me though, which pi$$es me off!

I don't remember from the boys. I wish I did... I think maybe they flipped when I was in labor. She's very low down this evening and I'm feeling all sorts of weird sensations.

Keri, I could have written your post almost word for word... I'm looking forward to this birth for the same reasons. I'm also looking forward to and a little apprehensive about going into labor on my own.

Nic~ It'll be OK, sweetie, you'll see. When you go into labor "on your own", all of the hormones see to it that you just mentally "feel right" about it; and then you just do it. (At least that's what I keep telling myself, b/c that's what I remember from the last two times- when it was time, it was OK, and it just happened.)

That's really nice to hear. I'm scared about what labor feels like "on my own" as well. I had an elective induction with ds, just straight pit above the max doseage. The whole thing was pretty terrifying (and fast, 4 hours start to finish). BUT I do keep reminding myself that I survived that kind of labor without pain relief (I got an epidural but it didn't work at all) and if I can do that then surely I can do it when I go into labor naturally.

All you mamas who have had inductions before: Are you guys kidding me? You're scared after the pure hell you've been through before?!!! This will be a cake walk! From what I understand, pitocin is hell on earth... you'll do great, you'll see!!!!!

The mid wife i had with my third was awesome... She just sat back and let me do my thing until the baby was crowning.. then she told me that i might want to tip my pelvis up a bit because i had a bit of a tilted uterus and it would give him a straighter shot out... which it did. But no one telling me"push now" or anything.... it is so much better when you can just listen to your body and not a bunch of people telling you what to do.

With my second I had had my membranes stripped and went into a very intense labor that night.. really it was a two hour longer contraction and a couple of novice nurses who kept trying to get me to lay (lie?) on my side.. then telling me to just breathe as the baby was being born ( honestly they were sort of scared sh@tless. after he was delivered they nurse who caught him just sort of stood there with him.. i said give him to me.. and just held him till the midwife showed up a couple of minutes later.)

I have a diferent midwife this time....long story.. so am not as at ease with how she will be.. but I've been trying to let her know at each visit that I'm pretty confident in my body's ability to do this on its own with some one there at the end to catch..hopefully thsats what will transpire..

OK. I was feeling pretty patient until today. NOW I am feeling really ready. (Which is mean since I'm "only" 37.5 weeks and could def. go weeks longer.)

We are getting the final loud-work done on our house today and after that is done I am 1) scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees 2) taking a nap 3) making a little love. Not necessarily in that order!

I had some folks say they saw me going into 41 week territory and I wanted to cry. :

Hi! New to the board, so I haven't had time to get in on everything!

I was due on July 16th, but had a bouncing baby boy on July 4th!!! (at 38 1/2 weeks)

So, when the thread started, I was in a similar situation!

i forget just how BIG i am.
yesterday we went to the coast and on the way stopped by the Tillamook Cheese Factory. mmm squeeky cheese and ice cream!
while headed into the bathroom with Addy and my mom two women at the same time: "how many are you having?" and "a bit overdue huh?" i had to : so hard.
i said. "not due til the end of the month, with JUST the one." both their jaws dropped.
i really AM all belly right now. even for a very large woman i am totally belly-licious!
then we got some delicious ice cream. mmmmmmmmm.

Welcome corgidog! Congrats on the birth of your baby!

Tiffany~ I bet they felt like an a$$!!! I also LOVE when people tell me how big I look!!! : I always gush and say "I KNOW... isn't it GREAT?!!!" I LOVE my big swollen belly. Lately I keep staring at it, knowing it is probably the last time I'm going to see a big, beautiful, sexy swollen belly on me.
