Knitting mamas! - Page 2

I am not quite a knitter, but I am a sewer-- and I've made myself 2 maternity tops that are completely out of season (as in, I should be wearing them now, except I don't need them at 6 weeks. oh well!), but am avoiding baby clothes just yet... superstition, i guess. I was thinking I could knit a baby blanket, though, which is about as far as my knitting prowess goes! Maybe it will be purple. Or green? I like green...

Oooh, a pattern with history! If you find it, and are willing to share, I'd love to have it, too.

Anyone know of crochet patterns for longies or shorties?

Here's a free, easy longies and shorties knitting pattern
from my friend Pear on lj who dyes and sells FABULOUS yarns if you're looking for something special. She also does custom knits.

I have to dig them up for the other sewing mommies, but I have a whole bunch of links for making your own robbeez (?sp) style shoes - they are so incredibly cute and I have lots of scraps of felt and calicoes for apliques.

I'm actually feeling a little guilty for all the stuff I'm planning on making the bean since I didn't know how to do most of it when Michael was an infant.

Knitting mamas!

here's a great pattern I found today

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer07/PATTzodiac.html

it uses cotton ease - which is cheap (always a good thing!).

it looks fairly easy, and I'm sure you could substitute a drawstring for the zipper on the bottom if you wanted to avoid that.

Here's a pattern for a free knit wrap - it's similar to the Tickle Turdle one - but knit, not crochet

I am a knitter too...however, somehow my guage is always off.
I knitted a sweater for my dd, while I was preggo with her. It was
supposed to be for when she was 1. Well, it finally fit her at the end of her 2nd year. Oh well. I might have to find some preemie patterns and maybe it would fit my babe to be when she/he is 6 months.

My mom is an unbelievable knitter and she is just itching to knit something.
I think I'll put her to work on some wool dipes...once I can get a good pattern.

Here are the soft-soled shoe patterns. I haven't made any of them yet, but several look very promising...

Leather Shoes
Cloth Shoe Pattern
Footies
Tacky Baby Shoes
Soft Soled Leather Shoes
Little Lace-up Leather Boots

Enjoy!

I'm a knitter/crocheter/crafter, too. So far I haven't made anything for myself or the baby, but my best friend is due a week before me and I've cross-stitched a bib (my first time cross-stitching!) for her. Plan to knit some for my babe from this pattern: http://www.knitlist.com/2003/babybib.htm even good for mostly-dishcloth knitters (that's me too btw)!

Love all the links, thanks!

Yay!! Lot's of knitting mama's in Feb!! I love to knit and also spin. Check out the fun washcloth pattern on Knitty in the summer pattern section. Prefect for a baby or toddler.

I just bought a whole bunch of koigu mill ends that will become an EZ Baby Surprise Jacket - lovely shades of green, gold, orange and red. My first yarn purchase for the bean!

I just can't get into knitting at the moment. I'm doing a lot of spinning, though, and I think I'm going to dye some roving to spin for the bean. Somehow spinning seems less tiring these days :

Does anyone have any good patterns for maternity tops?

hoping to make this sweater

that sweater is beautiful! i learned how to crochet a couple years ago and so far i have started several large blankets (Queen size), a diaper cover, and some gloves. this winter i should be able to finish them all.

i like to crochet in the round, so i'm going to try making some longies.

i also sew, hence, i am going to make some newborn dipes. i had O/S dipes for dd, but they were WAAAY to big until just recently. she was 6lb 6oz at birth but she was in preemie clothes for the first 1 1/2 months. she's still kinda small. her 6 mo pants are capris and her 9 mo pants fit perfectly.

it's nice that we've gotten so much mileage out of her wool covers and her clothes.

Count me in!
I just finished a nb pair of longies from the fern and faerie customizable pattern book. I made a hat too. They are both soaking in a tea dye-bath. I made some stuff last year when I had miscarriages. But so far, this is the first thing I made since being preggered this time. I have so many projects in the works!
I hope to make some more picky pants this time around. I love LTK stuff!
I also am going to make some curly purly soakers. And some other kinds as well maybe. I think I am also going to make a bunch of fitteds, and AIO's.

I want to finish up some knitting in the works too, so everyone else doesn't feel left out.

I love Heather Baileys stuff!!!!

I plan to make those booties, and maybe some others from Japanese craft magazines I have. I have already made 2 pair from this really old pattern, they are knit. They are stay on booties.

How did I miss this thread?

I crochet and do a bit of sewing, but have no idea when I'm going to have time to do either for the new babe! Argh! I'm so far behind on all of my projects, and then there's Christmas to worry about....:
