Homebirther Roll Call

Who else here is planning to have your baby at home?

This will be our first homebirth. My first was born in a hospital with a midwife. It was a large practice and more on the medical end of the spectrum. Baby Two was born at the Baltimore Birth Center and we would have gone there again, but they closed due to insurance issues, so Baby Three was born at Special Beginnings (another freestanding borth center). We would go to Special Beginnings again, but it's an hour drive and I'm not up to it. We're using the same midwife that was there with dd (she went into private practice).

Planning our first homebith for baby #3 here. First two were hospital births, the last one was natural but was horrible experience becuase of staff. Plus I am just so much more educated about birth now. Home is the best place to be. 39 weeks along tomorrow and I my milestone yesterday was that I have now stayed pregnant the longest in my life thus far. I don't carry to term-ever! Come on little one!

Me !
This will be my first homebirth too. I had Ds in hospital with an epidural because I thought that was the ony way I could handle the pain of childbirth. Before I got pregnant the second time I met a girl at a party who had recently homebirthed and she raved about it so much that I started to do some research on my own. I am so excited to be doing it this way this time on my terms in the comfort of my own home.

Here! Planning my second homebirth.

DD1: failed induction/cesarean (cholestasis)
DD2: hospital VBAC (with doula)
DD3: midwife attended home waterbirth

Me! This will be my second baby and second homebirth. I'm so laid back about it this time. DD will be here for all of it, so I think that's pretty cool too.

First homebirth here! I had my first birth (twins) as a c-section in a hospital 15 yrs ago. My 2nd and 3rd births were both natural, unmedicated births in hospitals (technically VBACs), one with an OB and the last one with med-wives.
This will be my fifth and last baby and I'm hoping that it will be a peaceful home waterbirth.

This is my second homebirth. I had a WONDERFUL first homebirth. I did have one complication (major post partum hemmorage) and almost had to transfer after the birth. I'm still so glad I was at home though. That complication I believe was handled much better at home than it would have been at the hospital.

This will be my third homebirth. My first was a c-section after failure to progress: and losing hearttones in baby from a reaction to my epi.

2nd was a homebirth. Was long and intense but wonderful...
3rd was another homebirth at 42w1d with case of SD...
Hoping this one is a peaceful, calm birth...I have a wonderful mw. I just hope I actually go into labor someday soon!

Homebirth unassisted for this babe!

DD1 hospital birth, epideral and induction for the famous failure to progress. I was young and listened to the ob instead of being prepared.
DD2 hospital birth, induction and horribly intervened birth, pp hemorrage and awful pp depression.
This babe 13 years later much more educated and doing my own prenatal care and will birth with just dh and me there.

I'm having the same midwives I had with my first (but he was born in a hospital) I'm looking forward to staying home this time and not having that awful drive to the hospital!

I'll join the club.

My first was an induced hospital birth . . . a bad experience in many ways and I was very very close to a csection. Thank goodness I had her vaginally though.
Second was a home(water)birth with a midwife.
Third was a UC and we're having a UC with this one as well.
There's no place like home for me.

We just got our Python fill and drain hose setup today! I'm excited about being really ready to fill the tub and do this! This will be our first homebirth, a HVBAC. Honestly, I've barely thought about it as a VBAC which is how I've been approaching this. My body is strong, my body has healed, my body can birth. If anything, I've been more aware of positioning since the reason my C-sec. happened was because ds was breech (and 35 weeks when my waters spontaneously broke).

homebirthing here And getting impatient. Ds was 2 weeks early and I am a little spoiled -- so now that I am 37 weeks I am getting a little nesty feeling. I had ds in the hospital with an ob. My water broke and no contractions so I agreed to start pitocin 10 hours after my water broke. It only took 6 hours after the pitocin and 3 pushes. I am honestly a little afraid that the midwife may not make it in time. We live almost an hour away from her. I told dh to be ready to use his paramedic training but I think even if we uc'ed it would turn out just fine. baby is in perfect position and I am already almost completly effaced and slowly dialating so I hope it is quick Watch-- I will jinx myself...

another HBACing mama to be here.
DD1 was a hospital induction that lead to a c-sec (like most do!)
this is baby #2 and we will be having a homebirth, in a birthtub in my dining room
and now that i have had my MamaBaby Blessing i can have her anyday
ok. so i'd LIKE to wait til at least 38 weeks and get another week and a half of nesting done. but i wouldnt be too upset to see her soon.
with my luck i will be a 43weeker!

Second homebirth with second baby here. Different city, house and midwives though, so like a whole new experience altogether. I hope to mainly manage myself for the most part, with the midwife just checking baby's heartrate from time to time. We'll see if I feel like getting into the tub or not. I'm feeling pretty laid back about it all too, I guess!

Second homebirth with my second baby! Same midwives as last time . We're all ready to go. Actually today is my due date

Us too! This baby is going to be my hba2c baby. I am not even at that "oh man am I done being pregnant" stage yet so I am thinking this baby is going to wait for the full moon to come around again.

I do have a lovely deep soaking tub to labor in if I feel like it... when the midwife wanted to see my bedroom and asked, "so, show me where this baby is going to be born" I just looked around the living room and shrugged... who knows! Maybe over here, maybe over there, lol. She laughed and finally said oh just show me your room.

This is our first baby, to be birthed at home in the water, under the wide Alaska sky, in the same spot where we were married... due date is 7-17.
