OMG, are you serious?? i can't find this stuff anywhere. would you be willing to share/sell/Xerox/scan it?

actually i'd probably be fine with the basics-- that was the original plan i was on (1996) and did wildly well with it, compared to Points. basics (how much i need to weigh and what portions to get there) and a blank Tracker. do you have a scanner? would you be willing to scan things, when you have the time?

ooooooh can you just sense how wildly excited i am just at the possibility : i have not been able to find it *anywhere*. i'm on Google page 9 and no luck.

oh, and do you think the plan from the 80s is close to the 90s one? there are two cookbooks out there that *say* they have the plan *in* the book (but then if that is so, why register and go to meetings?). the books are Weight Watchers Quick Success or Quick Start. they are from 1984 and i think 1987 or 90.

i was getting ready to order one maybe, when you posted about having the personal selections plan. then i totally remembered (especially since you said late 90s) that that was the plan i was looking for.

but i wonder how close this Quick Success is. and if they really have the whole plan in the book. i could just buy that.

but if you have the Very One...oooooh. i'd be stoked.

thanks!

anyway. i did well today. so far. and right now i'm SEETHING about my child's behavior, and not eating chocolate. guess there's a good thing, huh?

Have you looked into doing the core program? You don't count points, you just eat foods that are on an approved list until your full (it's a big list, but it excludes sugar and bread). You do get 35 allowance points a week that you use only if you eat something with added sugar or bread. It's similar to the original program.

Well, my weigh in was toinght and I lost 3 pounds this week! I almost screamed when she tole me that. I was sure I only lost half a pound or so. That brings my 4 week total to 10.6 pounds!!!

(I thought it would make sense to use the dancing veggies!)

I don't own a scanner (I wish I did, since I still use a traditional camera).

Okay, I looked it over. I have the complete 1992-1994 version materials. I am willing to somehow get this information to you, although I don't know exactly how. I have doubles of some of the less important stuff (later weeks) but only one copy of the important early weeks stuff, and the format then involved a lot of little tiny pages, which would make for a lot of copying (and a lot of blank area on each page). I have the Food Companion, too, but it's maybe 100 pages. So, it depends on what exactly you want from it because there's a lot of stuff.

Oh. My. God! That's so great. Three pounds is a lot. You're just a day ahead of me on this program, so I'm going to ride on your shirt-tails (just think of all the extra calories you'll burn).

Congratulations, Jora. Half way there is spectacular!

I also eat eggs with oatmeal for breakfast, yogurt for a snack. I love hummus. Basically, foods that are high in protein and carbs.
Thanks! Im finding that proteins are lowest in points. Are the Ezekiel breads in the refridgrated section in the market?

How do you like the online program? I've only been signed up since this weekend, but so far so good. I'm just trying to get the Points thing down, since last time I did WW, they didn't have the points system. But I like it. I tend to mindlessly snack, so having to count every bite I put in my mouth is a good checks/balances system for me. Keeps me accountable!

Oh, forgot to ask my question...

What do you guys snack on?

Im a snacker and I need some healthy snack ideas. I mean, I obviously know carrots and other veggies, but what else?
I'm digging the online program. The meeting times don't work for me as they are right after a traditional work day but my husband works long hours. Both of my kids are on the autism spectrum so taking them isn't really an option hehe. I do find that at times it is harder to be held accountable so I have a group on the WW boards and this group here to help remind me!

oh you are so cool :

i don't know how either. i am willing to compensate you for any Xeroxing you have to do, of course. i so wish i kept my early stuff! before you actually do it, though, i'm going to try one more thing: i'm going to ask my mom if she has that stuff. though i'm pretty sure she didn't do WW back then when i did.
i'm OK with a lot of copying, if you are. if it's about money i will pay you for copying and shipping, of course. i'm not worried about blank area (but why is there any?) just so i can read what it has to say.
how is the food companion different aside from point values?

core-- i am sort of doing that right now, but i don't want to cut out whole groups of food (bread, peanut butter, stuff like that). just sugar. when i was back on the original WW plan i remember eating things like...fruit and yogurt for breakfast, a sandwich and raw veggies for lunch, and a protein (piece of chicken, pork chop, shish kabob, fish) for dinner with steamed veggies, and a bowl of fruit and maybe yogurt later for a snack. i do remember once actually portioning out 3 cups of popcorn. and i had my 1 pint of ben & jerry's once a week.

BTW i did awesome yesterday! i did not eat a WW popsicle after all. no sugar at all
at the end of the day i had a lowfat lemon yogurt with a couple Tb of wheat germ. and an apple. yay me!

and i DID get up early and go to the gym today. i did 53m on the treadmill, burned 287 calories, walked 2.75 miles.

Im glad that you mentioned the accountability. Thankfully some mommies in my IRL playgroup have a little weightloss group we've formed so I have some support there and here of course, but I forgot that the WW online site has a forum too. Thanks

So far:
fruit - blueberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, grapes - these are 1 point per cup
veggies - carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, cauliflower, broccoli, sugar snap peas - these are all 0 points except maybe the sugar snap peas

a big snack: whole wheat english muffin with 1/2T peanut butter - this is 3 pts for me

Well, you do technically cut those out on core, but like I said, you get 35 allowance points that you can use on "non-core" foods, such as grains. If you were using whole wheat pastas and breads you would be able to get in some every day using those points. I know that once I hit a plateau (which won't be for a while), I will switch to the core, and I'll def. use those points to get grains in.

Yes, they're refrigerated. I shop at an all natural foods store, so I don't know if all the regular groceries carry them or not, but since they're made with 100% sprouted grains, they're always refrigerated.

The pages are tiny, so they would leave blanks on an 8x11 page. The food companion is a booklet that tells you how much of all types of foods counts as however many personal selections. It's something you buy extra, rather than relying on the tiny list given out the first week or so.

Between my three meals, I have a serving of fruit. Otherwise, I don't snack. I just eat really filling meals.

I don't. My store doesn't sell it. I have a feeling most of it isn't all that healthy, but would be interested to hear of kinds that are free of corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, etc.

I just started and have decided I will not. Here are my reasons:

1) I want to eat healthfully for the rest of my life - and I will not always live within easy access to these "diet" foods. I would rather learn ways to adapt normal/whole foods to fit within a healthy diet than eat special diet foods. For example, the yogurt. I can buy plain nonfat yogurt and add fruit to it for the same point value as the WW yogurt and it's better for me, too.

2) They are expensive!!!

3) A lot of them contain artificial sugars, which I do not use.

4) A lot of them are for what I consider to be "treats", and I'm sorry but a diet treat just is not going to cut it for me. When I want a brownie, I want an ooey gooey chocolatey brownie... and I'll budget my points and portion accordingly.

MTA: RubyWild, is there a trick you use to quote all of us in one post?? That's really neat!

Yay! Someone noticed. Me so smart. I just figured out how to do it!

Multiple quoting:
When reading the thread, there's a button/icon to the right of the "quote" button. It's a picture of a quotation and a plus sign. For every post that you want to quote, you click that button, then you go to the bottom of the thread and hit reply. Then you respond between quotes. I also delete out the parts of people's posts that I'm not directly quoting, just to make it easier to read.

Yeah, I'm proud of myself for figuring it out. : : :
