Heart Palpitations

The last 2 days I have been having some heart palpitations where it feels like my heart is jumping in my chest. I have read that this is fairly normal because of the extra blood volume and pressure on organs, but was wondering if anyone has experienced this so early? I am about 7 weeks.

I've been having them too, and it's scaring me. I have an appointment with my doctor later this week and I was going to ask. It does have me rather freaked out though. (I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow)

I have had the same experience. I just found out I am pg today...and I had palp. last week. I am seeing a dr. asap because of previous complications in last preg. I know it is normal because of the extra blood, but you may want to start to monitor your pressure. Good luck and congrats!

I had this in my 4th pregnancy and a dr friend of mine told me that it is nothing to worry about. I read somewhere that this is caused by a "vibrant fetus"! My blood pressure was fine the whole time, but seeing your dr will definately help you feel better.

ETA: It could also be anxiety!

I would try magnesium citrate because it does help regulate your heart. Try about 200-400 mg a day. I have a diagnosed irregular heartbeat and it seems to help me.

I am soooo hoping that is not the case!!! My ds is sooo out of control!! He has never NEVER stoppped since I first felt him at 16 weeks: two years later i am going mad!!!

I had an episode last week VERY brief but I will watch it, my mom and aunt have recently been diagnosed with some problems.

I get this too. I had an episode tonight, it is scary. I find that if I just lay down and relax for a few minutes it will go away.

How long are they last for the ladies who have had them. Mine are just a couple seconds, quite brief. They aren't painful, just shocking. I like the vibrant fetus theory. I'm going to use that one!

Mine don't last that long, but longer than a couple of seconds. I feel faint while they are happening and my pulse increases. They are not painful, but I just feel icky while it is happening.

I have been having them on and off the past couple of days. My heart will just feel like it's working hard then it will make this swooshing feeling like it's skipping a beat or jumping. I think it is better today, but unfortunately it seems to happen most (or I notice it most) when I am laying down.???

I called my advise nurse at the fertility clinic today and she told me to call my regular doctor right away. I spoke to a regular advise nurse who asked me a lot of scary questions, but did reassure me and tell me that it is a normal pregnancy thing, but they just want to make sure. So she's going to tell my regular OBGYN, but the other advise nurse is going to tell my fertility doctor and my regular doctor, and now it's a huge issue.
Now I feel like I shouldn't have said anything, it seems to have caused mass confusion with too many doctors involved. Sigh sometimes I miss my doctor is Canada who was my everything doctor, and now I have 3 or 4 and one never knows what the other is doing. sigh.

This is the same for me. Laying down doesn't help at all, and in fact, I haven't found anything that helps and I definitely have found that laying down only makes me more aware of it, I guess because I am not paying attention to anything else. It started for me at the end of 6 weeks. My episodes last much longer than a few seconds. It can go on happening on and off for several minutes sometimes. I talked to my doc, and she wasn't worried at all, but did suggest that I just monitor it and let her know if it changes or becomes bothersome. I'm not really worried, though. I actually had it first happen when I was working on my Master's degree several years ago, and was under a lot of stress, so they ran tons of tests, and my heart turned out to be perfectly strong and healthy, I am just prone to benign palpitations.

Dea don't know if you worked out or not, but I would guess that you are totally fine. Of course, totally stop if you feel worse or light-headed, but otherwise, working out moderately should be fine from what I know and have heard.

I did have to see my regular doctor and they listened to my heart and did an EKG and surprise it's because I'm pregnant. LIKE I TOLD THEM. I just had this feeling that it wasn't serious. I think I should listen to my intuition more, it's always been right.
