We loved Abbie ( Abigail) if e had been a she and I love Gracie more than Grace but it is very pretty!

I agree...I think Abigail is better....at least on the bc...call her Abbie though. I think names that end in -ie or -y that seem to be nicknames should only be that...nicknames. Just my personal opinion though.

I LOVE IT!
My husband's initals are ABB and I've wanted to name a daughter Abbie, not Abigail but Abbie. I like short succinct names and I don't think that all names have to have a long form. Also I love the 'ie', it's very popular in my family and I think it's just nicer than 'y'.
That being said I'm leaning towards a different name for a girl lately, but I still love Abbie.
Also Grace is pretty. The whole name flows really well together, your tounge doesn't get caught on any bizzare letter mix.

I think it sounds cute.

One thought is that you might consider Abigail so she can sound professional on a resume or something. But it's probably not a big deal.

It's a beautiful name - I have a niece named Abigail Grace.

Well my dd is named Abigail Grace, so I think it's the most beautiful name in the world! We call her Abby for short.

I love the name Abbie, and wanted to use it for dd, but my parents have a dog named Abbie. I love that name, though.

Thanks for the replies...

we are debating about Abigail or Abbie...but we already have a Jack and it feel like Abigail is a bit formal in relation to Jack...what do you think?

Well, we have a Jack as well (Jackson, but we call him Jack also) and if he was going to be a girl, he was to be Abilgail Patricia (after my mom Gail and my MIL Patricia). Then we discoverd that Abilgail was in the top 10 of baby names for the year (2004-2005) and decided to change it at the risk of our daughter being the next Jennifer (no offense to any Jennifers! that's my sisters name...just not for us ). We decided on Sadie Grace. Then we had a boy. And named him Jack.

I really liked the combination of Abbie and Jack. Thing is, you can call her Abbie and when she wants a more 'professional' or 'grown-up' name she can refer to herself as Abigail if she wishes. You have to keep in mind that she'll be an adult a lot longer than a child, so chose a name that is appropriate for both. Personally I think Abbie is fine for an adult. It's not like Suzie or Cookie or something like that.

Anyway, good choice and I think it sounds great with Jack!

I would just keep in mind that while everyone may call her Abbie, everyone will also assume that her actual name is Abigail. I knew a girl named "Mandy" who was constantly dealing with issues due the the fact that anyone doing anything 'professional' (i.e. getting team jackets made) assumed that her name was Amanda. She was always having to correct people, because her name wasn't Amanda, it was just Mandy.

On the other hand, b/c my name is Amanda, people assume that I must love being called Mandy. Um, not really. Not at all.

Anyway, I love the name, though I do lean towards Abigail more than Abbie.
