What are you reading right now?

Just wondering what everyone is reading, whether it is pregnancy/birth related or not.
I just bought Spiritual Midwifery this week and that has been my bedtime reading for the past few nights. I can't believe I haven't read it until now. I loved Ina May's Guide to Natural Childbirth and I have the Bradley books.
Anyway- I'd like to pick up another book when I finish this one and would love some suggestions!

I've been hooked on books by Beverly Lewis lately. I've read 9 books in 10 days. LOL

Novels, and lots of 'em! I did the same thing in my second trimester of my last pregnancy. I didn't really get into the baby/childbirth books until my daughter started kicking. I don't have any interest in reading about childbirth right now, and I'm curious if I'll get into it again or not.

Mostly the novels I'm reading are by women and are about women. I think this is sort of an introspective time, so I'm drawn to introspective books, maybe... motherhood is sort of the theme of some. Two I've read lately: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and A Cure for Dreams by Kaye Gibbons. They have led me to ponder more about what sort of mother I want to be, not just of an infant or a small child, but in a larger sense. Also, what I need to give myself to help me give what I want to give to my children.

Right now I'm reading Lolita. Part of my plan to read more fiction this year. Usually I only want to read non-fiction. I have some of the Sears books coming via bookmooch (www.bookmooch.com a great way to get rid of books you don't want and pick up some you do) and read a lot of the other 'classics' when I was pregnant with my first kid. I've been collecting them back from people they were loaned to so that I can refresh myself and/or loan them to my SIL who is due in Nov.

Lolita is one of my most favorite books EVER !

also love Spiritual Midwifery

right now I'm reading Call Me By Your Name. It's sooo intense and overwhelming all my senses !

btw I am glad you started this thread and we are all in the "sub"-category of mothering forums because I can't seem to keep up with all the other threads and groups elsewhere here : it's nice having a "home"

Just finished "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruis Zafon (translated from Spanish) - it was AWESOME! I stayed up until midnight Saturday night to finish it (bad idea - ds was up at 5:30 the next morning : ).

Not sure what I'll read next - I'll take some notes :

I just read "the Birth House" by Amy McKay. Fantastic book. I couldn't put it down. It's about a girl who becomes a midwife, so there's lots of birth content but it's also a riviting story.

I am reading Having Faith by S. Steingraber. It is an awesome book about how environmental toxins affect the fetus and also breastmilk. It also has a lot of biology of fetuses and infants in it. Some amazing stuff that isn't in normal pregnancy and birth books. It is peppered with the author's own experiences on making this journey to motherhood. Great book and i highly recommend it.

zenma - how was the secret life of bees?? i have heard some great things about it.

PurpleMonkey - thanks for the link. it looks like a great book. I think I will check that book out next.

Reading anything for more than a few minutes makes me feel even more horrendously naseous. Surfing on the internet makes me feel pukey. I had to turn off a movie last night, because it was jumping around too much and I was feeling car sick.

I want to read!

I'm rereading Harry Potter in prep for the new book. Also reading the Xanth series by Piers Anthony though I've set that aside for now.

I loved the Secret Life of Bees!
Right now, I'm reading Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson, the same woman who wrote The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
It's a cute story about the relationship of a few young girls.
I usually read books that are more informative, but I stick a chezy non thinkable one in there every once in a while!
I'm making a list from your ideas of the next book I'll read!
