Progressive Dinner Party

Have you ever had one? Any tips to share? I am thinking about possibly getting some people together to have one but really need do's and don'ts. The idea is each person hosts a course, so instead of one person making the entire meal you travel to each house to eat what they made. How fancy did you go? And would you do it again?

I have one good friend who is terrible at cooking but hates that there is never a good way to meet new people, she is from out of town. I would really like to get her included but don't want to overwhelm her either since she's not kitchen friendly.

I've done progressive dinners a few times. They are lots of fun! We include 6 couples...one does appetizers, one does entree, and one does dessert. The 3 couples that don't host a course the first time do it a few months later for the other 3. We don't get too fancy, but nice enough to feel special. The key is to be well-prepped ahead of time so all you have to do is the finishing touches on your course while your guests enjoy cocktails once you all arrive at your home. Enjoy!

i like how the couples take turns hosting in the suggestion above so not everyone is stressed about their part.

For the bad cooking friend, let her know it's okay to pick something up at a deli or bakery and tell her to put it in a nice dish - no one need know otherwise.
