"Milk, Money and Madness"...or another book? (XP Breastfeeding)

I've been wanting to read this book for forever but have been choking on the $35 price tag, and it's not at any of the libraries near me. Anyone know of a cheaper source for it (half.com hasn't panned out), or have another formula company conspiracy book they can recommend?

I really recommend that one. Can you do an inter library loan? Perhaps your library could get it for you if you talked to the librarian.

I got a bunch of books (incl that one) through interlibrary loan.

That's a good idea. The problem is it's always out. Our library has a...generous...policy on stuff. There are no late fees at all unless you don't return the book at all, and they don't start hassling you to return stuff till it's like weeks and weeks late, so a TON of great books either say they were due back in 2005 or are lost. It's great to not have to pay fees...but it's really a bad slacker policy! But I bet I could put a hold on it so at least it wouldn't get checked out by someone else renewed a million times. thanks for the idea!

The Politics of Breastfeeding is a great one!

i have milk money madness, and love it. it's full of all sorts of offbeat info i never saw anywhere else (like in times gone by, before the days of tube feeding formulas, like ensure, the sickly/invalids were given breastmilk).

the first chapter or so in "the ultimate breastfeeding answer book" does a good job of covering the topic, but not a lot of detail. and throughout the book it tends to include stuff about how the medical establishment/formula co's collude (i think that's where i read that formula co's pay for architects to design hospitals, and in the process design big nurseries far away from the mamas' rooms--on another floor sometimes--to separate mama and baby and thus derail breastfeeding. then the hospital administration, having this big room, wants it to be used, so they push for the separation).

haven't read the politics of breastfeeding, so no opinion.

This is an approved LLL book, so if you have access to a LLL library, check there. I thought it was interesting, rather quirky, definitely biased, but a good read.
