chiggers and laundry suggestions

Chiggers are in my laundry. I've tried:

1) vinegar in the rinse cycle
2) putting the laundry in the dryer for 20 minutes when I bring the stuff in to kill them. This seems to work okay, but I still get bit pretty bad just from bringing them in the house.

I live in the mountains right next to a cow pasture. I put up a new clothesline a few weeks ago and finally started enjoying it (it stopped raining every afternoon), but now I'm ready to give up b/c I don't want to use chemicals to kill the chiggers. So unless any of you mamas have suggesions.... I'm going to wait until late summer when they grow up into harmless mites....

Maybe you can treat your lawn instead.

Organic Lawn Care Forum

"How do I get rid of grubs (ants, fire ants, chiggers, fleas, ticks)? Beneficial nematodes are parasites for the all the pests listed. They come on a sponge which is wrung out into a bucket of water. The water is then sprayed on the lawn. For more info on beneficial nematodes, look at the University of Connecticut, University of Florida, Washington State University, Oklahoma State University, Cornell University, Texas A&M University, and many other university websites and search for beneficial nematodes.
