Missed AB

My daughter had a missed AB at 13 weeks.....no bleeding, and ended up having a D & C. The pathology report was normal...no evidence of a Molar pregnancy, but that some of the "villi" were inflammed - which the OB said was possibly due to the fetal demise at 7weeks.
A few days after the D & C she had slight (for 12-13 hours) bleeding, but nothing significant.
Today she went back to the OB for a post-op check. She didn't suspect anything was wrong and went alone.
He did a sonogram and said there is a "clot or fluid" still on the wall of the uterus, and drew an HCG. He wants her to get another HCG on Friday to see if it is going up. He said she might need another D & C.
She is upset....G1P0, 31 years old. No other health problems.
Do any of you have experience with this kind of outcome. I need to reassure her....
I am taking off my midwife "hat" and asking for some support...
Thanks,
Carla

I'm so sorry! I am not certain, but it sounds like a friend of mine who had a molar pregnancy? Could that be the issue?

I am not a professional, but I was wondering how long it has been since the D&C? Has it been more than a few weeks, I was told to call for a follow-up at 6-8 weeks after mine. Could she be pregnant? I know alot of women who have become pregnant quite soon after a mc. I hope that everything resolves soon for her.

He told her it was definately not molar...and that the pathology didn't show anything serious...i.e. cancer. After that, she was upset and didn't retain everything he told her. She had her d & c two weeks ago.
I am thinking that when he did the sonogram and saw that there was something still there (porbably a small clot...), he ordered the HCG's to make sure she wasn't retaining any fragments of the pregnancy.
Anyway...she was so upset, and being her mom...I was too. I've held a lot of hands during things like this, but never my daughters.
I know that it is usually ok...

No experience, but wanted to send {{hugs}}.

My sister just had almost the same situation about 6 weeks ago. Her doctor seemed unconcerned and told her it would pass. It didn't, she had some cramping so she took 3 days of blue/black cohosh and then 2 days methergine, passed 2=3 very large clots and now is fine.

So, that's my very limited experience, good luck! it was hard on her to not be over with for so many weeks, she needed to be able to move on, that was probably harder on her than the cramping/spotting.
