Hey Dingos, it's July! - Page 5

Just had an email from my cousin-according to her Nike chip/ipod we finished in 66:19. If that's correct, it's really fast for me. I'm not sure how accurate it is, though.

HBM, what a great race report!

So, I just checked the official results for the 10k and my official time was 58:03, with my ipod time being 56:57, and officially Purple Tank Top and I tied! Despite her long legs!

Shanti, I sincerely hope that your camera is found soon! I hate it when expensive things like cameras are unaccounted for!

Ugh, the kiddos are fractious due to staying up waaay too late last night for fireworks. I always end up thinking that watching fireworks is not worth the missed sleep , how unpatriotic of me But Bec, I absolutely love Katie's comment, it gave me chills because it is one of those things that is just so true.

WTG, HBM!!! Sounded like such a fun experience. I'd love to do a huge race like that someday.

cReb and 1jooj, have a great 10 miler! It's great that you are already doing long runs again. I wish I hadn't lost my long run stamina so soon.

Planning on 3 miles and yoga in a few minutes.

That is in my neck of the woods!!! I don't know if I will still be here in 2008 though

HBM - also, WTG on the Ptree! That is an awesome race report!

Megs and Jaygee - I had too google Bulgogi to see if that was one of the dishes we had (she just called it seasoned beef ) and it was! Not a huge fan of kimchi either. Also good were these vegetables and an egg over sticky rice I wish I could make rice like that

Shanti - hope you find the camera!

What a fantastic idea! I'll run it by dh. After all, we'd have more than a year to plan. And Las Vegas is pretty much his favorite place on earth. IRL in Vegas 2008!!!

So a possible west-coast Dingo meet-up in Vegas in 2008??? It's also dh's favorite place on earth and it's pretty high on my list, too. It sounds perfect for a race, nice and flat, then afterward you can just sit at a machine and have someone bring you drinks (do they have gatorade???) all day long.

hellooooo, long lost dingoes!!!!!!

I have ten million pages behind me since I have been online and so I'm hoping I haven't missed any BEEG news (pg, etc), but I have missed y'all! I will give my reports and then probably be off again for another few days. but can't wait to see you guys camping in a week or so!

camping report: RAIN! All night long. dh and my friend's dh did the "testosterone brigade" and rigged up the rain guard really well, but it was still damp and loud in the tent. plus no campfire at night. but the kids did great, the next morning was lovely and we had a great breakfast to make up for the night before (pancakes, bacon, and smores : ). I feel really good about going now that we've had our, ahem, dry run. I know some of you are such camping gurus but I am a newbie and it was nice to know that it is a fun option for us.

race report: maybe I was feeling HBM's pain, bc she wasn't???? I really felt the hills this time. The race, of course, was hilarious and fun, we saw the Elvises, got blessed by the Holy Water, and just generally enjoyed the kajillions of people on the course and cheering. It's such a great race. I think we finished around the same time, 1:07, which is slightly slower than last year, but oh well.

my best friend from sem is here and she is totally inspiring me to start lifting some weights. She has been doing body for life and looks great! very fun to see her and her ds too. he and my ds are just so funny together. last night they both had complete and total freakouts at the fireworks, screaming, insanity from two almost 2-year-olds. dh finally took ds home and other kiddo calmed down a bit. but dd was in heaven.

anyway, hopefully I'll be back on a bit but take care mamas, am thinking about y'all! Oh and the next installment of shirts are here and I'm hoping to get them out tomorrow or Sat.

That's a great idea about Fantasia. I think she would enjoy it.

HBM and MB - way to go on the Ptree!! Sounds amazing...

We had a BIG day today - it is DH's birthday, so we rented a canoe and just spent 3 hours with the kids canoeing on the Harpeth River. Oy are my arms tired!

I was also in the paper today I have it posted on my blog, for those who know it. Just PM me if you want to see it.

Thanks for all the shin splint advice mamas! Reb, you may be right. I run in Brooks Adrenaline, my second pair, and I have not had any problems before....so perhaps it is my IT band-thingy. I'll look up some proper stretches.

CherylAnn - that's right, sister- we're not old! Thanks for keeping me in line LOL

Congrats on your P'tree! I love Body for Life! It was the most effective workout I've ever done. I know already that I'll be going back to it again pp.

you should live here! They do fireworks all the freaking time. I used to get excited and run up to the roof to watch but now I barely even hear them! That's a good thing too because 5am is everyone's favorite time to set off firecrackers (no lights, just sound).

Hey congrats on your P'tree! It sounds like a great race! Remind us in 2008 about that Las Vegas race, I'm not into gambling but I'd be into a show or two! I'm so cheap about gambling I swear I get a bigger thrill by the sound of changing a $5 bill into quarters at the laundromat. I know it's a nice safe bet! But I can totally see a pack of dingos descending on one of those casino buffets post-race!

Poppy - Oh c'mon link! link!

So I got this email today:

hi my name is neil im 23 and ive lived in san miguel for a yesr my mom read an artical in houston about americans who have bussinesses in san miguel im in need of work so if you can help me i dont know many people here but if your hiring or know someone that is i would appreatice it if you let me know thank you

I didn't change anything about it, format, capitalization, punctuation, nothing.
I couldn't help myself, I replied that if he wants his solicitation to be taken at all seriously he needs not to write like an idiot and use proper grammar.
Of course I knew he would write back to call me a b!tch and, unsurprisingly, he did. But still.

Well, I'm a wiener and couldn't take it... We only went eight miles and walked a lot of it. I was in bad shape. Bummer.

I JUST BOUGHT MY NEW MOTORCYCLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Plady, that e-mail cracks me up. I can totally feel your angst on "Don't wanna be a total beyatch, but sheeeesh!!!" He deserved to hear it. And you're AREN'T a beyatch for saying it. I always try to think, "What would the dude say if a man was telling him to clean up his act a bit?" And if I think they would react with more respect and humility (which is typically what I think), then I don't feel like a beyatch for whatever I say. I had to get to that point in the military. Never totally got over the angst, but there you have it.

It is so darn hot today. I missed the boat on an early run. I think I will go to Master's Swim tonight since my swim yesterday was kinda shorter than I'd thought in my dream world it would be. I push myself more with the competitive spirit at Master's. So, I need to tank up with a bit more water right now.

Tomorrow Nevie will be at her school for three hours. THREE HOURS!!! I am planning a long bike ride (I'd like to see if I can do 20 miles), but if it is this hot again tomorrow that might not be safe. Not without a trip to the bike shop for a big-arse water bottle for my holder...

RR ~ I walked 2 miles around town yesterday to check and see what everyone was up to for the 4th. Then we hiked about another mile or so in a swamp, and I was wearing shorts and flip flops... real smart. : It was fun, I got dirty, and I didn't get any ticks.

Since James was home, I got in some cross training. I've learned that's good for my abs.

This evening, Tyler (my nephew) wanted to ride his bike next to me while I ran so I gave it a try. We went 1.5 miles and he was a trooper. He thought it was funny that he could go faster than me and cut me off on the corners. I gave him a good sprint at the finish.. and if we really would've been counting it.. I think I would have won! :P

Way to go 4th of July runners! Wow! You are all so inspiring with your times, the fun you have, running through pain, and waking up at all hours to get yourself and your families ready for the day.

Reb ~ Do you have a picture with you and the new bike?!

OH.. HOUSE UPDATE

We put in an offer today. He has until 5pm tomorrow to respond. I hate waiting.

JenLove, no photos of me on it yet...I don't get to bring her home until next weekend, as they have to get different shocks from Germany (they will lower the bike 1.5 inches for me). They will arrive next Thursday and I can get it within a few days of that. There is a photo of it on my blog, though...in the post about selling Daisy and showing photos of her,

Dh and I went for an evening run. We went after my gig which was from 5-7, so I missed dinner and put a lot of wine down the gullet. Then quickly before we ran, I ate a bunch of brocolli. That was some fine heartburn! We ran 3 miles and walked one more. My hip is killing me right now. It's a feeling I recognize, but it's way worse than the hip pain I've been running through for the last year and a half. I don't know what this is. I didn't stretch before, and now it's all spasmy, so stretching isn't feeling good. I took some ibuprofen about half an hour ago with no change. I was going to do 3 miles tomorrow morning, too. I'll be disappointed if I can't. How's that? I've gone from totally rebellious about running to feeling disappointed if I can't. Nice.

hah! - Reb and I are getting new bikes at the same time. Only I'm waiting for a shorter seat post and smaller handlebars for my new full suspension 29" wheel mountain bike. wait until you guys see the photos!

went for a 1.5 hour mountain bike ride by myself last night. it had just rained, so all the rocks were slick as snot and i took it real easy. but it was fun, and I'm so glad to take the gumption to go by myself.

so two weeks left of our best babysitter ever. i found someone with openings, so ds starts to transition over next week. due to my trip and everything, these details got left for the last minute and i felt a little guilty to tell BBE just yesterday that he was cutting down to two days for the transition beginning next week. but what can i do the change has to happen.

Plady - When DH was working at a different job, he was responsible for hiring several people. He would use a red pen and mark up obnoxious resume's and send them back.
