Was just asked the most bizarre pregnancy question yet...

"Have you had your baby yet?" :

This was asked while I was standing up. The man asking it had a SIDE view of my *huuuuge* 37-week belly.

What's the strangest pregnancy comment/question you've gotten so far?

You must look good!

that is bizarre!

Nothing weird here yet. I have been asked 3x so far "Haven't you had that baby yet??" (I'm 37 weeks lol. Oy.)

Weird!

The weirdest I've had so far is this lady at my work asked when I was due and I said, "in 3 weeks" and she said, "oh, wow, you still have a looooong way to go!" I found that odd especially since technically I could go anytime now. She acted like I have YEARS left or something.

Lindsay- : I love it! How did you respond? I would have totally just stared and slowly nodded, and said, "And now another one is in the works," pointing to the belly.

I can't even remember anything good; I'll have to come back to this one!

I looked down at my belly, then back up at him, and said, "Nope, not yet."

My funniest pregnancy exchange happened at a yard sale last Saturday:

lady: "When are you due?"
me: "Tomorrow"
lady: "You'd better get lots of sleep tonight!"

So I got lots of sleep and still no baby....

My MIL keeps making comments like,"Shouldn't you be at home birthing your baby or something!" She's been making these comments since about 37 weeks

Not in your DDC, but I got a similar question today. "Where's the other baby?" I stammered, looked down and said "Uh, still in my belly"

Weird.

Walking toward one lady, she looked at my belly and said, "That hurts!"

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw very pregnant women!

People can be so weird!

I find that men make the strangest comments sometimes...especially older ones who almost seem like they're trying to be flirtatious. I've had two weird comments by men in the past week:

--I was in the grocery store and some weird man shouted across the way to me "Better not forget the baby food!" Ummmm, yeah.

--Next comment was made by another strange man that came up to me and asked what I was hiding under my shirt. :

I find that most of these dumb comments come from people who just want to be involved somehow but don't know exactly what to say, so they say whatever pops into their head first!

I had another comment that I found to be borderline rude. The other day I was walking into a restaurant and two other pregnant women were walking in as well. One of them said "Clearly we are a LOT further along than you are, so we get to go first." : I'm a pretty small girl, and usually people think I'm only 6-ish months along. I thought it was very presumptuous though since in all likelihood I WAS further along than both of them.

What did you say back to them? I would've totally said (very nicely, of course), "Yeah? I'm due in 2 weeks... when are you due?", to make them feel like s**t. I can't believe they said that to you!

Keri,

I was so in shock I don't think I said anything! DH was even like, that was so rude, you should have told them how far along you are! I'm trying *really* hard not to let stuff get to me in these last few weeks. I am soooooo irritable and it seems like everyone is stepping on my last nerve. It's hard to let things go, but I know I'll feel better if I do...maybe
post #14 of 23
I hear ya, and am trying to let stuff go too! and BTW, I really don't think it's my pg-induced hormonal state, either! I really think people are just annoying!

I've had a couple ppl ask if I'm having twins (or sometimes just "one or two babies in there?"). I'm not even as big as I was w/my dd and no one asked me then! Anyway... I'm measuring right on, I just apparently carry all out in front so I look like I LITERALLY have a basketball strapped to my belly.

Here's a pic of me at 33 weeks (I'm now past 38) and this is AFTER people had asked about twins... http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...n/33w3days.jpg

Ok, you DO look like you have a basketball hidden in there, but....twins?? Nah. that's just silly.

I've gotten the twins question too. Also I've been told I look like I was due yesterday... this was when I was around 34 weeks or so. I've carried really outward with this pregnancy and so pretty much from the time I really started showing I've been on the receiving end of some pretty tactless comments.

Not in your DDC, but I had to comment on this....

I would have grabbed a breast with each hand, and said, "I've got the baby food right here, dude!"

I haven't gotten anything rude- thankfully becuase I am not good at come backs.

But, the other day I crossed paths with the same guy about three times in Target. He looked at me like he had something to say each time but didn't. Then on the way out I saw him again, with his four girls, and he said enjoy the peace and quite while you can. Not in a mean way, in a joking/envious way. It made me laugh.

when i was pregnant with dd i wore all my pre-pregnancy shirts (which were now belly shirts, of course! ) we live in Myrtle Beach, so it worked out well and kept me cool. one time i was visiting my MIL in the hospital and a woman looked at my shirt and said "your baby's going to catch a cold!" she didn't say it in a joking way, so i didn't know what to say. i just looked down and said matter of factly "no she's not." : puzzling.
