sprouting flour?

I've heard folks on here talking about sprouting their flour before making their bread. How does one do this? I can't seemt o get the search feature to work for me.

We are out of bread in my house, and for us that is a very bad thing if I want Ds and Dh to eat lunches (LOL!), so I was thinking about trying the 'sprouted' flour for bread, but haven't been able to find anything. When I look online I just find recipes for ground wheat sprout flour, what ever that is.

TIA

The idea is that you sprout the whole kernals of grain before drying and grinding them into flour. I think you can also buy sprouted flour at some healthfood stores. You can also make sourdough breads, that way you dont have to sprout the grain first since the long and slow fermentation process takes care of the anti nutrients.

HTH..

Try a search on essene bread. That is what it is basically. In my experience, sprouted wheat makes better crackers and tortillas than bread. good luck!

This link was exactly what I needed when I first got into it...it's so easy and I've gotten into a rhythm with it now...sprout and dehydrate during the week...bake on the weekends! Easy! HTH.
