Another narrow carseat question

I'm gonna go to the store and do some measuring and trying out, but I'm looking for suggestions. I need to get three convertibles across the backseat of my Pathfinder. I can't go the Radian route because the seat is so tall and it won't fit rear-facing without putting the front seats as far forward as they can go, and DH would have to cut off his legs to fit!

The twins are gonna outgrow their infant seats in a month or two, especially DS who is TALL, and it's time to start thinking about options.

I need two rear-facing, and one forward-facing back there. DD1 is in an alpha omega now and if I can I'd like to keep using that, since it's costly to buy three new seats and we're broke, and she's still very much a toddler and likes her seat and is likely to resist change. I have a Roundabout, but I can see now that two of them won't fit back there with the Alpha Omega, and DD's gonna run into the height limit on that before long. Besides, it's almost 5 years old so it won't see us through the twins' toddlerhood.

Anyway, anyone know offhand which convertibles are particularly narrow, or know where I can get that kind of data?

Have you looked at the Cosco Scenera? It's a fairly narrow seat and the shell height is fairly low as well. For this reason it's maybe not the best convertible seat for your money, but for RF with space constraints it works. When your girls can switch to FF you could move up to Radians. Which I know sounds like planning to spend a lot of money, but really, it's cheaper than a bigger car, right?

I would also suggest the scenera. Just plan to buy more seats soon after they outgrow it rf.

I would get a Radian for your toddler and then use the AO and then get maybe a Scenera.

That does help a lot, thanks. It looks like from that that my Roundabout is only a half-inch wider than the infant seats I have now, which have a little room around them, which means I have more choice than I thought I did. Thanks. And I will definitely look into the Scenera. Thank you for the suggestion.

I think two Roundabouts RF and a Radian FF would be ideal for your situation, but of course that's a lot of money to spend all at once, especially if you're broke. Could you get by with one RF Scenera now, alongside the AO and the Roundabout you have? That combo will get you to at least a year from now (before the Roundabout expires or the AO or Scenera are outgrown) and who knows, by then your circumstances/money/vehicle might be different. You could make a decision at that point based on your kids size/growth, available seats on the market, etc. We had "make-do" seats for our son that made do a lot longer than we originally expected...but they did the job and at the point that he was really ready to move on to something else, Radians were on the market, were the perfect seat for our cars, and we had the money to buy them.

There seems to be a lot of innovation in this area and new products coming to market all the time -- hopefully quality and choices continue to go up at the lower end!

Good luck!
