pinching sensation in cervix - anybody else?

I'm at 38 weeks and a couple of days now and I have been experiencing a pinching sensation in the cervix area for the past week or two. At first it would happen whenever I took a long walk and I took it as a sign to slow down the pace. But now I get "pinched" whenever my body (or the baby?) feels like pinching! It happens quite often throughout the day.

At last week's MW appointment my MW told me that it's normal and it's due to the pressure of the baby's head on the area. So I'm not worried about something being wrong, but I would like to know if the increased pinching frequency means the baby's coming soon! Does anybody else know what I'm talking about with this pinching, and does anybody know if it means the baby's coming soon? Like, hopefully in the next 24 hours?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I've had this sensation just about every time I walk for the last three weeks or so, and my babe's still in there. My OB also said it was caused by the pressure of the baby's head on the cervix. If the frequency of the pinching has increased drastically, I would think it could mean that the baby has moved down more into your pelvis.

Everytime I get that pinchy feeling, I'm like "Is that a cnx?" It's very annoying! (BTW, by cnx, I don't mean BH, which I get all of the time, I mean true labor cnx, which feel like mild period cramps to me at first.)

I've had this sensation for a couple of weeks now... but thinking on it I haven't really felt it today. Wonder what that means?

All I know is I'm still in too much of a good mood (relatively speaking) and emotionally stable for labor to be imminent. I think I've got every bit of 3-4 weeks to go here - if I'm lucky.

Yep, here too. It's really intense--almost feels like an electric shock or something when it happens, and it can sometimes take my breath away and stop me in my tracks. Yowza!

It did stop me in my tracks at the library the other day. Honey Pie thought I was going into labor. Its a pretty interesting sensation, but it only lasted a minute and I haven't had any more.

Exactly! I could not describe it better. I was doing quite a dance at Target a few days ago.
