Non-plastic diaper bin?

We're de-plasticizing our home but I'm at a loss when it comes to the diaper pail. The one we currently have is from Walmart. It's plastic with a hinged lid and a little pop-open hole in the lid for stuffing diapers in. It works great, but what can I replace it with? Where can I find a good metal diaper bin?

Hmmmm, good question. I'm sure I've seen smallish metal garbage cans with lids that would probably be water tight and work. I can't remember where though. Also maybe one of those super huge stock pots from a kitchen supply store. It would be water tight and have a lid. Might not be big enough though. I've seen really large metal bins for storing flour and such at nicer kitchen supply places. They might work too.

I wonder if one of those compost crocks made for kitchen scraps would work. I've seen ceramic and stainless. They even have charcoal filter inserts and hold about a gallon by the looks of them...just an idea.

This is a great question. I have no helpful answers, but I'd love to read what other people think.

Do you CD? If so, why not just use a hanging wet bag and forgo the pail altogether? I put all of my dipes in a hanging wet bag in my laundry room, put in a sprinkle of baking soda every so often, and have no smell issues.
