Anyone have a central vacuum system?

Just wondering if anyone has one and if they like it? Would you go back to a regular vacuum if given the choice?

TIA

We had one in the house I grew up in. I sucked up a sock once and it hasn't worked since. Well, it might work now, but it never did when I lived there. So, somewhere there was a sock in the wall..... I think I'd rather have a regular vacuum.

We have one in the house we just purchased a couple of months ago, but we don't have the attachments to use it.

The elderly gentleman I was taking care of had one too, but the cheapo Eureka his daughter bought from Walmart sucked up better than that did.

We don't know, but I had one all my life growing up. It was SO handy. The only problem was if it got clogged, it was a pain in the rear to unclog it (there's a wire type thing that you have to shove through the system until you find the clog...sometimes things as dinky as a quarter would cause it, too, so we had to be careful what was vacumed up).

My SIL put one in when she had her house built 6 years ago. Because the vacuum hose is soooo long and heavy, and she has to lug that thing around everywhere, she doesn't like to use it. She wouldn't have invested in it if she would've known.

I grew up with central vac & miss it so much. If the next house doesn't have it we're getting it put in.
