This thread gets me so happy and excited!

I had my first appt. with my midwife yesterday. We didn't check for a heartbeat because that would require the use of a doppler at this stage (11 weeks) and I would rather just use the fetoscope (which won't pick up a heartbeat until 18-20 weeks) unless something seems to be wrong.

My bloodpressue was nice and low 90/55. Urine was fine. We mainly just got to catch up and talk since she was at the birth of my son. I got to show off all my pics of him.

The drive to her house took me 2 1/2 hours so I am NOT looking forward to that when I have to go weekly in that lovely uncomfortable last trimester. But, if I want a homebirth I'll have to do some driving, there are only 3 or 4 homebirth midwives I know of in GA. It's ok though, I know it's worth it.

Had a wonderful visit with my soon-to-be midwife last night. Seems like we'll be a perfect fit and she was very open and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

HOORAY!

DH is totally for her and homebirth now and I think my Mom is even fully supportive.

We are going to have a family pow wow Friday night and then I expect to sign on with the midwife immediately after that.

Happy mama here!

that is truly hilarious!!!: :

we are up/uc, but to get all i need from my work i need a confirmation of pg. i haven't had a regular doctor in years, but fortunately my insurance from work will kick in august 1, so i'll just make an appt and drop an "oh really! my pg test is +?!? well, i'll be!"

I have a get-to-know-you appointment with a homebirth MW practice next Wed.

i had a good appointment yesterday. got all my labs back from last week and i am in PERFECT health! that felt really good to hear. i have lost 5 pounds, but i definitely have it to lose.

my favorite part of the whole appointment has to be when the midwife wanted to "test" my kegels. i don't know what she was expecting, but when i clamped down on her finger she actually SHOUTED. apparently my vagina is superhuman. dh said, "i coulda told you that."

i also learned that my uterus sits far back and that i have "plenty of room" in my pelvis. we did try to find the heartbeat, but i'm just a little more than 9 weeks and with my uterus far back, we couldn't find it. it was a little disappointing, but i had really prepared myself and dh that it was too early and not to expect to hear it.

my next appt is at the end of august. i'll be almost 14 weeks so hopefully there will be plenty of heartbeat to hear then!

I finally have an appt with a hb midwife for next Sunday, and have to make a call to set one up with 2 others. So hopefully in 2 weeks I'll make my choice and we'll have a care provider already!

OKaay, so we had our first MW appt today and the actual appt with the MW was fine/great but we had our kids with us and her office was in her house. Well our kids and her kid were playing hide-go-seek and when my ds was "found" he screeched...loudly. then the MW's dh came out and pretty much yelled (he was talking loudly and mean/firm with a Swiss/German sounding accent, he's from Swiss) at the kids and said stuff like "this isn't a McDonald's playground it's our home" and "the parents need to discipline their kids it is not my job." This was after the MW was reassuring us that the kids were just making happy fun noises and that she wasn't bothered by it at all. Granted they have had bad experiences with clients' kids knocking water on the floor and ruining stuff, but my kids weren't acting like that at all, they were just having fun and we were actually going to have my dh start wrangling them when MW's dh came out all angry. Anyway, I love the midwife but that was incredibly stressful and unhappy feeling. DH hasn't talked about it yet but he is sooo mad about it. The MW was talking about how she was going to have to have a talk with her dh on how inappropriate that was,etc and how unhappy she was with what happened and didn't want to hear apologies. So what do I do? Not bring the kids, insist on the dh not being there, not bring my dh? I reallly can't find another MW since she is the only one Medicaid will cover and that is the only way we can afford a homebirth. We are seeing the MW not her husband. UGH just need support advice.
Thanks!

Good to see that things are going so well with everyone!! We had an appt. last week to see if I was having a healthy baby. It was a concern of mine. I guess that I am just worry a little to much. : Well my baby is prefect. Flapjack what is the name of that test again where they measure the nose and the fold in the neck???? Well I decided to have that done and the baby is healthy. Yeahhhh I am really relieved but....... I should have known that everything would turn out ok.

Jezzy, I think it's a nuchal scan, but I'm not sure. Glad that everything looks great! I bet now you can breath a little easier.

Tomorrow is my 1st appt and I will be 10w5d. I'm hoping I can get them to give me a vaginal ultrasound because I am really not sure about my dates since my cycle was whacky when I conceived due to breastfeeding. I read somewhere that an ultrasound done between 7-14 weeks of pregnancy will be dated accurately give or take only 3 days.....I can't wait to see or hear the heartbeat.
Ok...this is late but we had our first appointment on oh i don't remember is was last week sometime. it was just your basic appt, questions about family and past births. We are having our ultrasound next monday, they are giving us a level two ultrasound b/c my first dd had clubfoot, but I am sure she got that from her dads family.

I am looking foward to Monday, and will let you all know how it goes.

I saw my little sweetheart on the screen today. I was dated at 10w2d which is only 3 days less than what I had myself dated at....so it looks like it could be a leapyear baby since I'm due at the tail end of February. I have this gut feeling that it is a girl! But my gut feeling was wrong in both of my previous pregnancies. A girl name came to me about 3 weeks ago and I know that is the name she is meant to have if it is a girl.....DP is really wanting a boy bad though so I guess I should think boy thoughts for him.
