how to get Baby Poop Stains out

I am going crazy trying to get my three month old's poop stains out of his clothes. He has a habit of waiting until the most fun times to have a blow out and some of his cutest clothes seemto now be ruined. I was just wondering if any one knew how to get the stains out. If you do you will be my hero.

Moving this to Diapering for you.

after washing before drying, put them out in the sun. It's magic

My DS used to do this, too! I always tried to wash them immediately (if convenient) to keep stains from setting. There always seemed to be plenty of laundry to do anyway. Otherwise, oxi-clean worked well.

Make sure you wash the stained item in COLD water not HOT! Cold will help get the stain out and hot will set the stain. I second the recommendation to set it in the sun!

Yup ditch the chemicals and sun those stains out.

What kind of diapers is he wearing? Maybe we can also help you find something that is likely to blow out?

If you have any patch of sun. (I live in washington state so from nov-april its rare) it really does help to "bleach" out the stain

I love the sun for stains! The blowouts may be at inconvenient times but if you could rinse the clothes out in cold water when you change him it might help the stain not to set.

Diapers he wears

We get him some called baby basics, we don't have a lot of money at the moment and I HATE the walmart kind, so we get them from albertsons.

Have you considered switching to cloth? It's more afforadable in the long run and a lot better at containing explosive poo.

Oh, and a tip about sunning- make sure you put it out there still wet. Sunning something already dry doesn't really work for some reason.

The sun gets out poop stains really well.

And I agree with the pp's suggestion to switch to cloth. Seriously. I had tons of blow outs until I switched. I've had none since.
